I am going to unsticky this thread. I feel like I have beat this dead horse to death and I give up.
The problem is of course HugesNet. I have been on my phone IP last 2 days and zero robots. The forum security software doesn't like me being here via HughesNet. No one else complains though.

I am done with the experiments. The phone IP....slower than molasses in the winter time but I don't know that even changing to 5 G will make that much of an improvement where I live and I for sure am unwilling to go buy another phone and incur that expense.

And I shouldn't have to anyway.

REALLY sorry you've had to deal with all of this. It is so draining and frustrating.

It is what it is. Hubby asked me what we could do to get better/faster internet. I told him "move into town and get cable" "but you can't go pee outside anymore because the neighbors won't like it" and that nixed moving into town..

I do think part of the crappy service is from the tower in the back pasture running interference. I know for sure it affects the cell phone.
But nothing I can do about that short of blowing it up and I bet they would just rebuild it and I wouldn't have to worry about it when in jail.

Tonight my Hughes data download resets to give me my full allotment and I am no longer restricted as to download speed. I plan to check it to see just how fast it really is without the restriction. I have a feeling it won't be near the 25 MBPS that I am supposed to get.

I suspect the reason one tablet works fine while the other one summons the robot is the verizon crap
on that tablet. Virus scan did not fix it--and I refuse to go back to stinking verizon.
I wish I could uninstall the verizon bug--and I doubt they will do it for me.
But I might ask anyway, repeatedly, until they relent and wipe their garbage off my tablet.
Anybody think it will work?
I already know that being a pest can be quite effective at getting things done.

One more thing to try, and the good news, this one is not your job to try.

The forum software uses phpbb v3.2.0, which uses reCAPTCHA v2.

Upgrading to phpbb v3.31, or better uses reCAPTChA v3, which is a complete rewrite. And much more likely to resolve your issues.

Suggest to Carolyn to have IT update the forum software to a version that supports reCAPTCHA v3. BTW, it's high time the forum software gets updated, there have been a lot of patches, including security related ones since v3.3.0.

Is it expensive?

The upgraded software for the forum???? Probably isn't cheap and we just upgraded a couple of years ago I think it was. Maybe it was 3 years as time flies. It was shortly after I became moderator though. I remember that.

It took many years to get the upgrade prior to that upgrade. I just don't see it happening just to maybe fix my issue.
I don't have this problem over on Jason's forum though. He is using same software but a different version but I can't tell what version though I think an older version.

I am back on Hughes at the moment because I wanted to check my speed once the allowance reset. It's 15 MBps...fairly respectable and there's nothing available here that comes anywhere close to matching it. My only other choice besides using Dish (which I already had and it was horrible) is a service that offers 4 MPps without data caps that comes close to what I get when I get restrictions with Hughes. To go to faster is horribly expense... like 3 times the cost of what I pay for Hughes to go to 8 MBps plus I have a 300 install fee.
Not practical for me. If I was a big online gamer it might be worth it but I am not.

I have already had the robot captcha thing twice since going online here about 5 minutes ago. Every time I reply or go to approve something I expect to get it.
I wouldn't mine doing it once each time I log in but it's the repeated thing that annoys the hell out of me.

It is what it is I guess. I can use Verizon when I get too annoyed and don't want or need to have much speed.
