Which CPAP Wipes?

Post by zzz1 » Tue Feb 11, 2020 4:29 pm

I recently switched from the AirFit 20 to the AirTouch F20 so my days of using soap and water on my mask are over (for now). For routine mask cleaning I would use regular dish detergent (non anti-bac) and water to push whatever might have gotten on the mask off of the mask including bacteria and viruses.

I'm trying to find CPAP wipes, but they seem like snake oil with companies making careful claims of cutting through germs without having ingredients to back them up or having ingredients that are flagged for possible toxicity.

I have several questions:

1. Are any brands of wipes better than others?

2. I believe the wipes will be effective against dirt and grease, but what about bacteria and viruses?

2. Regarding the F20 AirTouch mask in particular, what do people do after an illness short of tossing the thing out? With the F20 AirFit mask I could use anti-bac dish detergent if needed.

zzz1 = You mean the same bacteria and viruses that are all around before you ever put on a mask? The ones Cpap gets rid of along with CO2 when venting? The ones SoClean cons you into thinking are going to kill you when in fact their ozone will do it a lot faster? Work on your immunity system, don't scour the mask or machine of all ability.

Only a tiny percentage of the microbes around us are capable of harm.
Most contribute to the biome that is necessary for life.
Some are essential to maintain our immunity.
The children of clean freaks are the most likely to succumb to normally survivable ailments,
due to their compromised immunity. "Thanks, Mom!"
Cleanliness may be next to godliness, but it could also put you on the fast track to the hereafter.

Unscented baby wipes from Sams Club. Effective and inexpensive by the case.

I too use the Airtouch F20 mask with the delicate memory foam. I use baby wipes on my mask every day, but ONLY the ones without Aloe or any type of Alcohol. I cut them in half with scissors as i don't need a full size wipe for this job. I clean the whole mask, and frame with the wipe, but I very gently wipe the memory foam. Then I gently squeeze a soft facial tissue on the memory foam to absorb any moisture left from the wipe. The rest of the mask also gets wiped of any residue with the tissue. My 2 month old mask cushion still looks great with my daily care procedure.

Is there something in the scented wipes that would harm the mask?

i like Clorox brand of disinfectant wipes, orange scent. I have a thing for orange scent. My preferred scent for Dawn is orange as well. But, you can buy any generic brand of disinfectant or baby wipes at your preferred store. If you don't like scent, unscented is available in just about any brand

there is nothing wrong with scented wipes. Just a personal preference. I like scented.

I have used Pampers Unscented wipes for sensitive skin for about 10 years. It cost less than $2 for 60 at Walmart. Twice a week, I use an alcohol base hand cleaner (aloe-free) to kill any germs the wipes may have missed.
