My Air - high level guide

Oxymoron?

JPB
No. An oxymoron is someone who thinks it makes sense for him to use ozone to try to clean his boogers off his mask.

MyAir reports and records mask-on time, AHI, and leak--the three most important metrics for any patient.

OK, so maybe palerider never picks on me, but he picks on those poor ResMed people who run myAir.

MyAir is evidence that Resmed is not interested in empowering patients.
My machine is nearly five years old.
If worse comes to worst . . .
Hasta la vista, Resmed.

Who is this 'palerider' guy, sounds like a real prat.
He is a very knowledgeable guy who volunteers his time to help people. We are the prats for picking on him all the time. Thankfully for us, he has a good sense of humor. :)
Nah, I bet he's good with the good picking on...

Dreammapper (Philps Respironics) is, if anything, worse.

I find it suspicious that Resmed's MyAir (https://myair.resmed.com ) invariably gives me great scores whenever I keep the mask for longer hours (thereby using the machine for at least 5 hous per night), and this is so even when my AHI scores suck. During the last 9 days, my AHI has never dropped under 6.5, often over 7.4 events, and yet I get great marks!

Anyone can explain this? I thought the AHI was the most important value.
Yes, Myair is useless.

Badges, trophies, stickers, stars, or whatever--inane, mentally stifled.
Hey kids, we are being stuck on the apnea SHORT BUS!
STFU and don't bite your pacifier.
I am surprised I do not have Alzheimers--YET!
But there seems to be a conspiracy to turn us all into blathering, ozone-sucking IDIOTS.

Just saying:

If I only used MyAir - AHI for my therapy adjustments I would still be trying to figure out my pressures.
I have so many false events every night I would probably think I need a BiLevel machine or just have given up.
Without this forum and SleepyHead/Oscar I would have been a therapy fail statistic.
Now that is high level for me. :D

Yup, you need to see what happens during the night, how the pressure varies during the night with an auto, and in some cases, what the events look like.

myair (or dreammapper) gives you none of that, so it's useless for improving therapy.

I agree that myAir is useless for detailed troubleshooting. There is software for that.

I used ResScan for that back when I first started out. After that, all I needed was what I could see on the screen of my machine. And myAir is a step up from that, to some extent. So it is enough for me to keep an eye on things.

But myAir is valuable for getting more patients involved, interested, and informed about the state of their therapy to the point that those with good therapy can improve it and those with lousy therapy can at least become informed about the need for detailed troubleshooting.

I appreciate your posts, jimbud. Always have. You have a valuable perspective around here, so never let my giving you a hard time keep you quiet, ok?

PUGSY!!
jnk is patronizing me!

If you don't make him quit it, I'm gonna to tell my big brother and he'll be sorry then.

I am hanging around for the knowledge I receive here every day. :)

If I can dish out a little hard time then it is incumbent on me to take it too.

I'm a new CPAP user and new with resmed. Is the number of apneas per hour accurate on the my air report? Isn't that kind of the most important measurement? Mine has gone way down from the sleep study figure (which is why I was prescribed a CPAP).
