OK ... this is really just a comment about how the internet works. Though early in this thread there was the word "fake news".

As I mentioned in the post above there was a story last night saying that Florida has one of the highest arrests of minors in The United States. It specifically said that ORANGE COUNTY Florida ( Orlando ) had the highest in the state of arrests of 5-11 year olds. And that the youngest arrest was a 4 year old.

There was a graph showed Orange County as having more arrests of young children last year than Miami and Jacksonville combined. I went looking for that number ( a four digit number I believe - maybe 1700? ) and it's like that information has now been "scrubbed?" from the internet?

I've heard stuff like manipulating the internet can happen but it still seems surreal?

Who has this internet delete button and why would they care about such an insignificant story as 5 year olds being arrested? It's not national security?

Of course, maybe it's just my lack of computer skills and I can't find it through google searching. LOL
But I know I didn't imagine it.

I believe you... but be careful because we're now living in a world so connected, too often for all the wrong reasons, that you can't count on anything much to stay the same or anything else one day to the next. I feel like a hermit a lot of the time, but don't trust social media, let alone who knows what else these days, to be safe.

Thanks Julie ~~~

It's not a big deal to me but I found it vaguely unsettling that the story just deemed to disappear? I suppose it is an embarrassment for Orange County particularly because of Disney World's reputation as a dream destination for 6 year olds ... but I can't help but wonder who has the power to alter the statistics and flow of information?

I'm a fan of the hermit life myself.

but I'll be damned if I would let a fellow law enforcement officer off the hook for doing something absolutely stupid, especially when they should know better than anyone.
You know, my level of respect for you just went up a few more notches.

There's far far FAR too much 'buddy buddy' corruption in the police forces these days, covering for each other no matter what happened... Cops should be held to a *higher* ethics standard, simply because they have so much power over people.

It's good to know that you have a higher standard than many.

The more that we let slip, the more the public loses faith that we are men and women with honor and devotion.
Why do so few see that?

Disney can probably afford to do almost anything they feel they like.
All except for hushing up news of the kid killed by a gator.
Wondering what the out of court settlement was there . . .

Thanks goofproof ~~~

I've never heard of that guy before, but he's got it right. I'll have to watch him again on another subject.

Once when I was in school (in Florida) ... I was in PE. It was 6th grade and we had to "dress out" which meant little blue romper suits for the girls, though it was co-ed. I was chewing gum - and got caught.

The teacher lined up the class. Pulled me out front of them all, made me touch my toes with knees locked, (my shorts covered almost nothing in this position) got a (16 inch?) WOODEN paddle and hit me directly in the tailbone ( I've always had a tiny behind -never had any "padding" back there) as hard as she could ten times.

Arresting would have been far less traumatic and painful. (and of course I was 12 and not 6!!!)

I still chewed gum. I just developed a hatred for her that still burns today.
...but other than my hatred, nothing else happened. No outrage. Life went on.

I do not think they paddle children in school these days? I never had kids and I'm pretty out of touch with such subjects.

Shheeeeesh ... Writing this ...I still REALLY hate that b@*^% even now!

Parochial school?
The bullfrog attended school in Belgium, and the nuns were downright BRUTAL.
If I were to have a phobia, it would be sphenisciphobia--fear of nuns.
They all give me a little cringe . . .

No. It was a public school. In a "good" area. Not "big city" Orlando.
Late 1970's though.
