Who died and made you the arbiter of everything?
Good question Julie. As far as I know Pugsy is alive and well. Therefore PR cannot be the complete arbiter of everything. :D
Knock it off everyone....how is this bickering helping anyone?

Julie's original statement was worded in such a way that her intent with her question was a bit cloudy. (FWIW I also was confused by the wording as I thought she missed the fact that the Elite was being used).
She later clarified her intent with her question. That's fine.
She thinks it's no big deal to maybe have cloudy questions.
PR thinks it is a big deal to have cloudy questions as it might confuse someone.
We have a difference of opinions here. We all know that it isn't the first time we have had a difference of opinions here and most certainly will have it happen again. And yes...likely to get heated also...it is the nature of some people here.
PR gets to have his opinion.
Julie gets to have her opinion.
Mr Feel Good self appointed conscious of the forum gets to have his opinion of their opinions.

I get to have the final opinion though....get back on topic or shut up.
No more comments like the above or bickering or such.
If you can't get on topic...don't say anything and if you don't get back on topic and try to continue this discussion and bickering ....
you will find the comments removed.
And that includes any comments that Mr Feel Good might say about the opinions including mine.

This is the only warning...get back on topic or risk post removal. Please....thank you in advance for doing that.

I have no idea why I was prescribed this machine.

...

I have been scheduled to have an overnight sleep test at a hospital, just don't know when (Canadian medical system sucks sometimes).

...
Not sure what province you're in, but I can comment on why most in Ontario are prescribed CPAP instead of APAP.

Ontario has an Assistive Device Program (ADP) that partially funds devices. The funding model categorizes xPAP into APAP, BPAP and CPAP with each device category receiving a different funding amount towards the machine. The program also defines what the DMEs can sell the devices for.

Approved prices:
APAP $1,020
BPAP $1,120
CPAP $860

Because of the funding physicians will only prescribe APAP and BPAP if its medically necessary and can't be addressed with CPAP. Oddly enough, some APAP devices (AutoSet for Her) are incorrectly classified as APAP and available even if one's prescription is for CPAP.

However, DME's will steer away from the more expensive APAP because they receive the same ADP funding payment for the for Her as they do the Elite. They make more money distributing Elites.

With other provinces, especially those with CPAP funding, similar pressures for cheaper devices are likely at play as well.
