Mask Headgear

Post by mecocosm » Thu Feb 22, 2007 9:31 am

I thought it would be useful to get users' opinion on the headgear of different masks....

It sure might.......................but just to be fair, the list is a lot longer than that.

I really like the headgear for the Comfortlite 2. No straps on my face. I also have the padacheeks pad for the part that is on the top of my head. Very nice! I like that I don't have to unhook anything to get the nasal interface off, just pull the "plugs" out of my nose and I'm good to go.

Of course the Swift headgear, compared to the Hybrid, is much smaller, lighter cooler, less confining and doesn't make two sets of marks on my cheeks. But then the Swift headgear is for nasal pillows and the Hybrid is for full face mask.

The poll doesn't make sense.

I don't think these Polls work very well on this board, I voted for the UMFF and it still shows (0) zero votes.

Says to me Polls are stupid or this polling place cannot count

I didn't vote. The list is too short.
But for comfort? ....the Soyala headgear is the best I've used.

What Jim said. You have to keep voting until you get a message that says, "Your vote has been cast".

You forgot "NONE OF THE ABOVE"

* Headgear is designed to maintain a good fit for a specific mask or mask type.

* Within that, there's comfort preferences and "easy on", or "easy off" preferences, in addition to how long it lasts.

* etc.

I like the "Revise and resubmit" mask myself.

On second thought....I don't think my Activa really NEEDS any 'headgear'

All head gears are made better by pad a cheeks

thanks Karen.

You should break this into 3 separate polls - 1) best headgear on nasal masks 2) best headgear for nasal pillows/prongs and 3) best full-face headgear.

I like the Swift but whoever thought laying on buckles, pressed into the back of your skull was a good thing, never used that mask!

A couple of things...

1. Someone sent me a slightly used hybrid to try yesterday, and I was, at first, disappointed by what seemed to me to be a lower quality of the material used for the headgear (neopream?) as compared to the UMFF headgear. (It may be the older hybrid headgear - it is blue.)

To my surprise, it was much softer and much more comfortable on my neck - something that has not been comfortable on the UMFF headgear with the heavier material.

2. Release ease is important to me.

The Respironics' little ball piece on the headgear for ComfortLite 2, that need to be slid though a small groove drives me nuts. Even with practice, I can't get it in easily and to get it out is even worse. To get it out, you have to push against the force of the direction you have tightened it down as well as get it at the right angle to get into the small groove and then pull it out. Of all the release systems I have used PB and ResMed - the Respironics functions the worst for me. The ResMed the best.
