I got a 15mm brush for the hose and some CPAP wipes.
CPAP branded wipes are a rip off. Costco baby wipes is the way to go.

If your only cleaning that weekly your probably throwing some kind of bacteria thru that hose on the last few days before cleaning.
Some relevant studies:

Basically, the "CPAP WILL MAKE YOU SICK" is just unwarranted fearmongering.

Interesting to not clean the hose. Air is blowing out And not in so I’m quessing that will be fine but then you got the heated water blowing out and thru the hose. If your only cleaning that weekly your probably throwing some kind of bacteria thru that hose on the last few days before cleaning.

Thoughts are welcome and I’m a newbie so ....
????
Why would you think this?

CPAP branded most *ANYTHING* is a ripoff.

I saw an ultrasonic "CPAP" cleaner on amazon for something like $250, vs $70 for much the same thing at Harbor Freight.

hmm, now, there's an idea.. buy something, stick "CPAP" on it, and sell it for four times as much... PROFIT!

Don’t the humidifier get some kinda bugs or bacteria with the water being heated ?

Be gentle. I’m learning.

Do your best to forget everything you know, and learn from people here.

The only thing you're likely to see in the humidifier is a pinkish scum over time, and not a lot of that. We get rid of it with vinegar and water. You can actually just use tap water vs distilled, and do that cleaning yourself - there's no intrinsic therapeutic benefit to distilled otherwise.

Haven't cleaned my hoses EVER in many, many, many years except maybe once when I thought I saw something inside.

Baby wipes daily/wkly, Dawn occasionally and not more often than needed (the more you clean masks, the quicker they need replacing... keeping the DME's happy.

I looked at the harbor Freight unit, Plastic. small, no water drain valve and just one transducer, I want one a little better.

Bigger, stainless steel, drain valve and 2 to 4 transducers $120 to $140 range, but for now i'm using a pan and dawn, and move my hands very, very fast!

Really can't justify it, they are my germs and I have made friends with them.

No, don't think of your humidifier as being similar to standing water that's been sitting in a wheelbarrow in you backyard all summer.

Every night, I open my tank to top it off.
If I see science happening, I dump it out and wash it like a water bottle.
Using distilled water reduces this to once every month or so . . .

^^^^. Lol now that’s funny right there ^^^^^

I’m having a hard time with the idea of not cleaning the tubing and probably not the humidifier. I need more convincing.

The links to the studies are a interesting read. I don’t see data as to the group that didn’t clean the tubing and humidifier vs the group that did clean that stuff. However it did say no growth bugs or whatever so what if all those people cleaned the stuff ?

I did read it kinda fast as I’m at work and on a smart phone and could have missed stuff.

Hi (again) guitarist :) ~~~

Cleanliness is Godliness.

It is it's own reward.

*I* llllllooovvvvvveeeee cleaning my mask. I use Dr. Bronner peppermint soap (and have just found the sugared peppermint which has it's own yummy uses). I don't use a humidifier.

~~~the joy and mintiness I get from Dr. Bronner --- *I* do for *me*.
... like innumerable other hygienic practices.
~~~ but as with most things you sleep with ... "different strokes for different folks".
Began XPAP May 2016. Autoset Pressure min. 8 / max 15. Ramp off. ERP set at 2. No humidity. Sleepyhead software installed and being looked at daily, though only beginning to understand the data.

Not gonna get it.

You decide to do what you want to do.

I haven't cleaned my hose in the six years since I bought it. I haven't scraped a hole in it with brushes, it works fine, and surprisingly, no nascent civilizations haven't set up in there and started having loud parties at night....

I've gotten multiple years use out of parts, whereas people that report going through hoses/masks/tanks frequently report diligent cleaning...

So, *I* am fine with no obsessive cleaning, your mileage may vary.
