I have received OP's request to lock the thread and let it move on down into the archives.

I will honor that request but not immediately. I have a couple of my own thoughts I want to add and can't right now and I want to give people a chance to make one last comment if they wish.

I do want to clarify one thing right now though....Chantilly's recent thread and OP's unhappiness about the number of responses she got.
To KnightSleeper....you would need to know her whole story and understand how the forum members have stepped up in the past to help her out. Chantilly knows that if she needs anything...anything at all...people here will step up big time. She knows that the lack of responses in her recent thread doesn't mean that the people here don't care about her.
I personally have sent at least 3 care packages to her with various masks...and I know that I sure wasn't the only one....I know of at least 4 other people who have sent packages of cpap stuff to Chantilly over the years. She even got a machine donated to her by someone when something happened to her current machine and what she was needing wasn't a run of the mill cpap either. It was a pricey machine.
I suspect there were other donations made privately to Chantilly that I couldn't see happening or was a party to myself.

Chantilly knows first hand exactly how much people care for her here.....she doesn't need a post count on her recent thread to validate that caring.

And yes...maybe if people hadn't been so intent on piling on in this thread...maybe they would have taken the time to read and respond in Chantilly's thread.
Maybe it's just more fun to bash someone and voice your displeasure in this thread repeatedly saying the same crap over and over and over again ...than it is to say "way to go" in Chantilly's thread.
Kinda sad isn't it?

It sure is. Given how much time he put in this thread, I would hate to see what his days are like and how tiny his social circle is. He may need more help than anyone here. :(

Was this to describe the ringleader? It is appropriate, IMHO.
I guess that would be up to each individual poster as to who the ringleader is. Or, if there is a ringleader at all.
Edit:
I will clarify my view for you. I don’t see a ringleader on this board. What I see here, in this thread, is one poster trying to nanny everyone into behaving how they think things should be. Using the very same tactics they complain of ..to preach their sermon. Hence, sanctimonious.
I am a grown woman. I will make my own decisions about people. Actions speak louder than words in my book.

My final statement is that I bear NO ill will toward KS. I commend those who care deeply about how others are treated, and I do not doubt their motives, even when I choose not to adopt someone's specific methods. Some of us have been seriously mistreated in our lives, and that is going to affect our views and chosen causes.

I apologize to the board for my part in extending this thread beyond the reasonable.

Evidently, there is a ring here. This thread keeps going around and around. As far as a ringleader, evidently there isn't one or this thing would have stopped going around and around fifteen pages ago.

Chantillys post was March 6th. KS didn't reply until yesterday April 25. How come he didn't reply sooner ? Maybe like many he wasn't here when she was first posting, didn't know her, and thought it would be better to not answer in a thread he was clueless about. Nah that would be giving him credit for maturity and self control.

I just have to wonder about the "offline" person pulling KS strings, pointing him in weird stalker type directions. Its quite creepy and weird this strange vendetta.

People who have a problem with how the Goodman's run the forum.....take a look at what I highlighted.
The Goodmans get to decide....not the forum members. Doesn't matter what you personally might think about what someone says or how they say it. Your vote doesn't count.

There have been many "KS" 's that have come and gone through the years, and there will be many more in the future. They think they know how to run this forum better than the Goodmans do.

Given the above clear disclaimer in the user agreement terms and what Johnny said back in 2007
Beware the person who wishes to legislate the morality and the behavior of his neighbor. Respect the person who accepts as responsibility, duty and sacred privilege the task of successfully moderating his own behavior. People who can do this are rare beacons of light. It is easy to point the finger "elsewhere" and imagine a utopia will result. It is hard to do the work and take responsibility to make your first utopia internal. . . . I provide the domain, the hosting, the software and the moderation of CPAPtalk in accordance with my set of beliefs regarding human nature and business. You may use it free of charge, you may find a better board or you may start your own. . . .

Johnny
Why do people have to go on and on and on about what someone says here or how they say it or their tone or hurt feelings or what they choose to put in their signature lines????

Some of you guys tried to bully Johnny into doing something YOU felt needed to be done....pot calling the kettle black IMHO.
Johnny didn't bite did he? And yes...he was made aware of this thread. He chose to not do or say anything...that speaks volumes if you guys would just listen.
Some of you guys/gals still can't get it through your thick heads how Johnny feels about being anti ANY form of censorship.

We have probably at least a dozen forum members here who are active that speak very bluntly pretty much 99% of the time. They come in with a 2 X 4 that is unpadded and has rusty nails sticking out at the end of that 2 X 4. They swing it often...and yes, sometimes I cringe when I see what gets said by those members. Speaking bluntly as to what our opinions might be of someone personally or what they might have said...isn't going to cause anything to be done to that person. Doesn't matter how much you or I might not like what they said or how they said it. Simply doesn't matter because the only vote that counts is Johnny's.

Cold hard fact of life and I say it swinging a big 2 X 4 myself....it's the truth. Sometimes the truth hurts.
If some of you don't like it...I don't know what to tell you except get over it or move on because it is NOT going to change anything no matter how much you want to bitch about what someone says or how they say it.

You know what....sometimes I have got so upset about what was said here by someone that I actually got physically ill...vomited because the words made me so ill I couldn't keep from vomiting. I have lost sleep over it. Lost count of the number of headaches some of you guys/gals have given me. I have actually left the forum because of it...It's been a really hard and ugly lesson that I have had to learn here about how people talk to each other.
Did anything happen to those people who made me sick....not a damn thing. I got over it...I learned that bitching and whining accomplished nothing except to prolong my own misery about some wrong I perceived that someone had done to someone.

Tonight before I go to bed...I will lock the thread if that is what is wanted. All it is doing now is prolonging misery...people got a chance to vent but repeated venting of the same speech over and over again accomplishes nothing. Get over it and move on.
No one here in this thread is going to bully Johnny into doing anything. It simply isn't going to happen no matter how many time the same speech gets repeated.

The majority of forum members like Johnny's hands off approach....there's a few who don't.
Get over it...or move on to greener pastures because I think after 12 years ....Johnny is unlikely going to change his way of doing anything just because a handful of people are unhappy with it. Just not going to happen.

a very important point. thanks for pointing it out.

chantilly is a special case. she is before my time. but when i first saw some of her posts(she posts infrequently), i went back through to read her past posts. i was immediately struck by her charm and how forum members seemed to go out of their way to help her.

it's pretty cynical of knightsleeper to bring her up. even in an off topic thread.

i'm going to miss this thread, in a way.

in other ways, not so much.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

This brought tears to my eyes. But thanks for posting it. I can't imagine a more powerful reminder that words have consequences and that sometimes words can hit harder than fists, even when we merely overhear words that are directed to others. I would like to believe that no one here sets out to cause that kind of pain in anyone on purpose. And I would like to believe that the majority of posters here would appreciate getting a PM from anyone else, newbie or not, as a reminder in a specific instance that it might be humane to offer a simple public apology in case our words have been misunderstood in a pain-causing way.

CPAP saves lives. But only if people are comfortable enough to feel safe getting the help they need from places like this one. A few kind and thoughtful and polite words from Slinky and others when I first showed up here certainly made all the difference for me.

And I'm not the least bit jealous that this thread gets locked when the one about me didn't. :D

This entire thread was worth it if it motivated you to post what you just did, Pugsy, in my opinion.

Thanks for doing what you do with skin in the game. And please take care. Of yourself, that is.

And when I came here in early 2010, scared and confused, it was you, jnk, that was the first to respond to me, with kindness, politeness and caring, that gave me hope that I could get help here. And I did. And I'll always remember you fondly for that.

Only reason I'm posting in this thread is to tell you that.

And to Pugsy? You, my friend, are a saint. As jnk said, please take care of yourself.

And now, back to my hidey hole, where none of this silliness (referring to this thread) can get on my last nerve. While I grow a new last nerve nightly, the goings on in this thread could run me out of last nerves.
