OSCAR Suggestions & Bug reporting
Re: OSCAR Suggestions
In Overview tab, Flow Limitations graph is incorrect (probably due to daily stats being incorrect?). This also showed up in SleepyHead 1.1.0. I'm including graphs from all 3 versions that I have installed. SH1.0.0 seems to be correct, included SH 1.1.1 because I like the way the 95% is shaded and easy to see.
SH 1.0.0 SH 1.1.1 OSCAR
SH 1.0.0 SH 1.1.1 OSCAR

Re: OSCAR Suggestions
Here I'm just asking for a clear explanation. I use "normal average" and "true maximum" in SH 1.0.0
All of a sudden in SH 1.1.1, it became unavailable, with this note about "summary design limitations" for ResMed machines. Is this a SH/OSCAR design limitation? A ResMed design limitation? If ResMed, what's changed?

Re: OSCAR Suggestions
Hello Friends, I've been looking here and over on Apnea Board and I am unable to find a post that answers my specific question. I have the Philips Respironics Dreamstation Auto SV BiPap and I would like to use OSCAR to observe my data. I have downloaded and installed OSCAR on my Windows 10 machine. The program downloaded and installed without issue. When I imported my info from my SD card there was almost nothing in the way of imported data. Of the many graphs displayed on the overview and the daily views there were only 3 or 4 with any data. There was no AHI data, pressure, leak rate, snore, etc. Over on Apnea Board I read the Wiki on OSCAR and it indicated that the Dreamstation machines are supported but I, for some reason, am not able to get OSCAR to cooperate. Any help would be well appreciated.

SleepyHead v1.0.0 and earlier defined and reported many of the "Max" values as the highest value that occurred in the session. This is configurable in Preferences / CPAP / Maximum Calcs.
SleepyHead v1.1.0 (and propagated into OSCAR) defined and reported many of the "Max" values as the 99% percentile. This was a design decision to eliminate some of the high end outliers. This is a config item in Preferences / CPAP / Maximum Calcs, but disabled.

Yes, that was done. But my question remains "why?". And why only for ResMed machines? Why can't I change it? IMO, the daily stats should reflect what the machine reports.Dog Slobber wrote: ↑Mon Apr 29, 2019 6:56 pmSleepyHead v1.0.0 and earlier defined and reported many of the "Max" values as the highest value that occurred in the session. The FL max and snoring max are not 99% numbers. The max snore is 0.00 every day, no matter how much snoring I have - might be reporting the 1% number. And the max FL is grossly under-reported.
Here's another example. I've turned on the "peak" dotted lines in the pressure, flow limit, leak and snore graphs. Pressure maximum looks like 99%. Flow limit clearly is not. And the peak line for snore isn't visible because it's riding the zero line. I don't think leak is correct either. If you look closely, there's a pretty significant short leak at the start of the session.
Edit to add full screenshot, so the daily numbers can be seen

When Mark and I worked on 1.1.0, it was my opinion that the "maximum" was worthless, and suggested we report the 99 percentile instead. The maximum is too subject to a leak or anomaly that makes it a simple flag for an outlier. It has no meaning in therapy. I think this was an undocumented experiment that is actually an improvement in the data, but since it was not properly labeled or documented, it is hard to reconcile. Anyone that follows my posts will notice I never pay any regard to the maximum, and i think Mark took that to heart.
jaswilliams wrote:I would also note it seems only to be applicable to some machines so we may need to research this further.
Sleeprider wrote:This may be one reason Mark didn't consider 1.1.0 complete. He abandoned it to work on 2.0, so there may be other Easter eggs. It's important that OSCAR be accurate and properly documented, but I still say the "maximum" statistic is not a particularly valuable metric.

Re: OSCAR Suggestions
What I'll add is that we are at our starting point. It is now a team of people making decisions on OSCAR's future direction. First and foremost, it MUST be Accurate.
Other than the known inherited issues we are aware of we are taking concepts for some of the best advisors in the community. Even those that are not on the development team. This thread IS one of those inputs.
A lot of the graphs have issues with scale and overlay lines. Those will be fixed, and this is one of them.

Re: OSCAR Suggestions
Thanks bonjour and DogSlobber for the additional info. I had figured that these issues were obvious enough to be well-known. It's great knowing that these problems will be corrected.bonjour wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2019 8:30 amWhat I'll add is that we are at our starting point. One of these days I'll get to the point where I'm not looking at my cpap data every day or two. When that time comes, I'll be depending heavily on the overview charts being reliable.
Keep up the good work!

I suggest trying to import your detailed data from backups of the SD card that SleepyHead created when you originally imported the data into SleepyHead.Gulfstream wrote: ↑Mon Apr 29, 2019 6:49 pmHello Friends, I've been looking here and over on Apnea Board and I am unable to find a post that answers my specific question. In OSCAR, create a new profile. Select File/Import from SD card, then click on Choose a Folder. Navigate to the backup directory for your Sleepyhead profile: SleepyHeadData\profiles\yourname\yourmachine\BACKUP and import data from there. You can find a more complete description of this process at http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.ph ... yHead_data.

Re: OSCAR Suggestions
This post is an FYI observation and not a complaint. The installation and data transfer seemed to go well and the program works well. Looking at past data in the statistics mode I have noticed that one month - June - back in 2018 showed a very low AHI. So low I knew it wasn't correct. Looking at that month I found that most of the days in that showed no graph data. It appears that for some reason the data for that month did not transfer from Sleepy Head. I fired up Sleepy Head - which I haven't used for a while - and the data are there.

Re: OSCAR Suggestions
Thank you, BlueDragon, for the response. The problem is I did not use, nor do I have, a SleepyHead backup. If one (me) were starting from scratch how would I proceed in order to gain the full funtionality of OSCAR? Thanks Again!BlueDragon wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2019 2:37 pmI suggest trying to import your detailed data from backups of the SD card that SleepyHead created when you originally imported the data into SleepyHead.Gulfstream wrote: ↑Mon Apr 29, 2019 6:49 pmHello Friends, I've been looking here and over on Apnea Board and I am unable to find a post that answers my specific question. Re: OSCAR Suggestions
You use it. Import your data when you choose to from the SD Card, returning the SD card back to your machine, then repeat. Post your daily charts to a forum and ask questions. It is that simple. I do recommend that you keep all your requests in one thread as that will maintain a history.

Re: OSCAR Suggestions
I made this thread a sticky for a while.
Seems like there are more bugs being reported than I anticipated.
I have OSCAR up and running but to be honest just haven't had the time to compare anything to see if I am spotting any bugs.
We all know that I don't look very deep at my data very often. Kinda boring at this stage of the game.
So I will leave that to you guys/gals who pay closer attention.

Re: OSCAR Suggestions & Bug reporting
Just a heads-up. This may already be a known issue, but the Data/Advanced/Purge Current Selected Day function does not always work and when it does it does not always remove everything. This began after on SD import gave a date in the future. More background will be provided on request.
