WET! I tried De-Hydrated water once, woke up with dry mouth. I pulled the XPAP and HH off the nightstand, had to get out the vacuum and the De-Hydrated Water up of the floor, good thing I have a Wet & Dry Shop Vac. Jim

I generally like to use wet water.
I have considered using dry water, but it is hard to find around here.
I also thought about dehydrated water, but the instructions always suggest, just add water before using.

So, I just settle for wet water most of the time.

The Resmed instructions that came with my last few machines explicitly say clean water, not distilled.

Try the grocery store, many of the have boxes full of the stuff... it's pretty cold, in it's frozen state, only, once it melts, you usually can't find it.

Also, don't put it in the humidifier in it's frozen state, that would be bad... possibly very bad.

All the manufacturers, to my knowledge, advise that only distilled water is used in humidifiers. In the case of my machines, the stated reason is the prevention of mineral build-up in the tank.

This can be perceived as costly and/or inconvenient. Consequently, many people say they use tap water or other forms.

It would be interesting to see what the majority (if there is one) use.

Apart from mineral build-up, some people avoid raw tap and bottled water because they believe them to be unhygienic. As far as I know, there are only anecdotal data to support that fear, but if you have PERSONAL experience of ill health likely caused by using such water, it would be interesting to hear that, and thus guage how prevalent such issues are. Please remember though, to only include examples that you have experienced personally.

For those a little slow on the uptake (and you don't know who you are) this means do not use.

Just wondering whether you use distilled water or dry water when re-hydrating dehydrated water?

I usually just use Reverse Osmosis damp water when re=hydrating dehydrated water.

I've got a (appx) 9-month old "Distilled Water" bottle under my bed-side table that I use to fill my PAP machine. When I empty it, I refill it with just plain old tap water.

I'm real careful not to disturb that "Distilled Water" label on the jug in case the CPAP-Police squad shows up with a warrant hasslin' me. I ain't scared of the fuzz! Power to the people!

In all seriousness, our water is pretty good as far as leaving mineral deposits. I soak it about once a month (bowl of water with white vinegar and some barkeeper's-friend) and it cleans up nicely. If it ever refuses to come clean (enough), I guess I'll have to save up $18 (Amazon price, last I checked) -- maybe once a year -- to buy a new humidifier tank.

Now, if I was still living in Florida and was somehow stuck at a house on a private well with untreated, hard, sulfur water? Oh hay-yull no! I would *gladly* pay the $1 every so often for a gallon of store-bought distilled water. That's a different story altogether.

This is a theory:
If the same CPAP Mfg. says OK to use water in some or most countries, but says to use distilled in the USA, is it possible it's due to potential litigation from the guy in the US who puts swamp water in his CPAP, and gets sick?

Again, just a theory.

Certainly a quite plausible theory. In the USA, as regards manufacturers of healthcare related stuff where the FDA has any potential influence or control, it is probably very safe to presume that anything and everything gets run past a lawyer(s) before it goes out the door.

I'm thinking it's more that distilled water cuts down on cleaning needed... and it's typically easily found in the US, less so in other places, but fear of stupid people with lawyers is always justifiable. :D
