SoClean etc is a scam. I've seen it turn people's mask cushion and other stuff yellow...no thanks

Just goes to show CPAP Germs and Dirt don't cause health problems, even in the Weak Minded, or maybe they are so weak minded they are blind to reason.daddyof7 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2019 5:29 amThis "weak minded" guy has used the "cleaner" for nearly 3 years and has done nothing to harm my equipment. Compared to another that is advertised frequently, this one is much more affordable. It’s $49.99. Only a half dozen reviews, but they are all positive. I change my heated hose every 3 months, but I do not wash it. Thought this would be a good way to keep it sterilized. Sounds like it disinfects the machine too (and of course the headgear). I do have a CPAP dryer I bought 6 years ago. I put the water pan and headgear in it after I wash it. The Webetop cleans with ozone. Thoughts?
AND, it won't *clean* anything, any snot in your mask from sneezing in it will still be there.
Crap like that is just scams meant to separate weak minded people from their money.
Don't be weak minded.

Been using my XPAP for 14 years never cleaned my equiptment more than 10 times with soap and water, nothing else required properly not even that. Just being a fool the first year. Not cleaned after I found the REAL Facts. My infections are 1/3 what they were before XPAP.

I plan to wash my CPAP stuff every 3 or 4 years.
I am a little concerned about weather to put my Aircurve 10 ASV in the Dishwasher or the clothes washer.
On a more important note, how are w supposed to recognize posts by Pugsy and Palerider now that they have changed their avatars.

READ, No need to learn to read. If we could READ we wouldn't have a reason to post questions that are repeated over and over, sometimes that are still posted on the first page.
Since we can't READ, we don't have a chance learning how to search the 10,000 posts archived here, or if we could we wouldn't take the time to read the info posted that would answer our questions.

Re: Anyone bought a CPAP Cleaner?
I clean the mask with Control III, and clean the machine with 2-3 oz of Isopropyl alcohol in the humidifier tank and run it dry. Maybe I am nuts, but it has worked for me for years. Thoughts?
Re: Anyone bought a CPAP Cleaner?
Do keep in mind that alcohol vapor is extremely flammable.rfmielke55 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2019 7:25 amI clean the mask with Control III, and clean the machine with 2-3 oz of Isopropyl alcohol in the humidifier tank and run it dry. Maybe I am nuts, but it has worked for me for years. Thoughts?
I'd be willing to bet that it would have 'worked' for you just as well all these years if you hadn't done that.

Glad I did my research before falling for soclean - sounds like it could do more harm than good.
The nursing student in me though... I probably will change my parts more frequently than most because I have a fair amount of paranoia built up in me thanks to my schooling.

Re: Anyone bought a CPAP Cleaner?
Then you should know that the vast majority of the germs on a cpap mask come from you. and if they haven't already made you sick, it's unlikely that they will.rionoirble wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2019 1:28 pmThe nursing student in me though... Re: Anyone bought a CPAP Cleaner?
I think this is implied, but if they have come from you and even if they have made you sick, they will not make you sick again because your immune system has created antibodies for them.palerider wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2019 2:45 pmThen you should know that the vast majority of the germs on a cpap mask come from you. and if they haven't already made you sick, it's unlikely that they will.rionoirble wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2019 1:28 pmThe nursing student in me though... As a nursing student, you should know washing your hands often is the best thing you can do, and you don't need $$$ to do it. Don't use soap with antibacterial in it. Jim
