AirCurve 10 VAuto Bipap settings help needed
Re: AirCurve 10 VAuto Bipap settings help needed
For data, if you mean the SleepyHead, I downloaded it and I'm waiting on my husband to help me get the data read into the computer. I think he has some kind of equipment that allows the chip to be read by the computer.
Re: AirCurve 10 VAuto Bipap settings help needed
Just because you didn't grind at those pressures for a little while during your test doesn't mean that is some kinda golden setting. Sleep varies, and sleep tests are very often wrong.Angielynn wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2019 11:58 amConcerning the bruxism, yes. In my sleep study they saw that I was not grinding at the 4/8 level. I was wearing sensors on my jaw joint areas. Plus when I do sleep with those settings, I'm waking without the pain in my teeth. I could not get that relief with the autopap though I tried different settings, and used the EPR.

Re: AirCurve 10 VAuto Bipap settings help needed
I do get what you're saying and I'm sure you're right, but the 5-6 times I've used bipap I had no teeth pain. Every single night I used the cpap for months I had major teeth pain, like when you first get braces on (I had them when I was a kid so I'm familiar with that feeling). So I'm hopeful that this was the right call for me, if I can adjust and get more comfortable.
Re: AirCurve 10 VAuto Bipap settings help needed
Hi Pugsy, I changed my PS from 4 to 3, and I do feel like it helped. I was able to keep it on all night.
I do feel like I was grinding my teeth as they're a little sore this morning, but it was much less than with the auto-Cpap I had before.
With the PS at 4 I did not seem to grind at all, but if the change in PS is the cause of more grinding, I think I'll have to live with it because the PS of 4 just wasn't working for me.
Also I got my sleepytime working but I don't know what to do with it. Is there somewhere I can read about how to interpret it?
Here's some of the information about last nights sleep on it that I do recognize: clear airway: 0.01%. Obstructive 0.27. Unclassified apnea and Hypopnea are both 0.

Re: AirCurve 10 VAuto Bipap settings help needed
There is a tutorial for SleepyHead in the Announcements section. It's a bit outdated but the basics are unchanged.
As far as using PS 3 now vs 4....you can always try 4 later again. After a couple of months at 3 you might not find 4 so difficult to manage.

Pugsy thank you so much for all your help. You're support is a major blessing, and one that could change the quality and length of my life. Bless you.
Re: AirCurve 10 VAuto Bipap settings help needed
The next step is to start increasing your minepap until your apnea is controlled and you stop clenching your jaw, since bruxism is a not uncommon side effect of untreated sleep disordered breathing.Angielynn wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2019 7:02 amHi Pugsy, I changed my PS from 4 to 3, and I do feel like it helped. We still need to see some sleepyhead screenshots.

Thanks Palerider. I'll work on getting those images together.
Re: AirCurve 10 VAuto Bipap settings help needed
Hi Palerider and Pugsy. Second night at a PS of 3, and my teeth hurt. However I felt comfortable enough with the IPAP and was able to fall asleep and I was comfortable enough to put the mask back on and fall asleep again when I woke up to go to the bathroom (I do that frequently). I did not feel like I was hyperventilating.
I've attached images of the sleepytime data. Please let me know if there's something that could help.
I see it only allows 3 images and I have 4 so I'll make a new post for that one.

Perfect!
I think your EPAP is too low, but you've got to get used to breathing with the pressure as it is first.

Re: AirCurve 10 VAuto Bipap settings help needed
Thanks Palerider. So in the meantime I was thinking of raising the PS ever so slightly tonight to see if it helps with the grinding, and to see if I can tolerate the higher starting IPAP that comes with that.
As a reminder, I was not grinding when PS was at 4 but felt that hyperventilation sensation so I turned PS down to three. I feel pretty good at 3 but am grinding again. So I thought somewhere in the middle like a PS of 3.4? Would that be a reasonable step, or would you say not to do it?
When you say that my EPAP should be higher, does that mean that you think I should work towards a higher minimum epap and a higher starting epap? Would that also mean I'd need a lower PS, or would it mean having a higher maximum IPAP?
Please excuse me if I'm not understanding correctly.

Re: AirCurve 10 VAuto Bipap settings help needed
Why not try and see if you can do a minimum EPAP of 5 with a PS of 3? the EPAP is classically more important for preventing bruxism than is the IPAP/PSAngielynn wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2019 4:07 pmThanks Palerider. But, you can try increasing the PS part of a CM if you want.
