You didn't get a good seal with the Opus pillows (BTW don't say prongs because they aren't prongs...there is a real prong mask and those suckers actually do go up inside the nostrils and hurt like hell) most likely because of the headgear adjustments needed.
I had the same problem with it. That's why I say it isn't the best of pillow masks out there. It's not an easy mask to get the headgear adjusted properly for a good seal.

I would like to see you try a ResMed AirFit P10 nasal pillow mask....there's a reason I use it.
I hate to see you burn your remaining mask swap for something you might not like though. There is simply no comparison to how much better it is than the Opus.

When do you have to get the swap done on the F30...how much time left before you can't swap?

And yes...go for it...reduce minimum EPAP to 9 tonight and see how you do. I have known people who can get by with 2 to 4cm lower baseline pressure when going from FFM to nasal. Especially nice for those who were using 15 to 18 cm with a FFM and can use 12 to 14 baseline with nasal. A lot more comfortable...and reducing aerophagia to boot.

I've got about 15 days but my dme is slow to respond. I put a call in earlier to let them know I couldn't get it adjusted so who knows when they will call me back.

I am confused though I thought it was a prong mask. so there are things that go further into the nose? Yuck!

Yep...there are really some prong masks and the prongs go up inside the nostril quite a ways.
The pillow masks...nothing is really up inside the nostril except the tip of the inner cone and it shouldn't be touching anything.
Pillows should seal just from the outer larger bulky rim part of the pillow resting gently against the nostril.

They seal inside by swelling up inside the nostril when pressure is turned on. The fit has to be just perfect for it to work. I did try the nasal air II prong...unfortunately I was between sizes...one size too small and the next size was too big when inflated and hurt like hell.
I know people using it though and loving it....go figure.

For right now...let's just consider swapping for another N20 depending on how well you continue to do with it the next few nights.
I will try to find you a free pillow mask that is better to try.

When I sent the Opus I was really, really short on time and the 2 you got were what someone had just sent me and I had them handy. I didn't have the time because of the upcoming trip to really sort through all the stuff I have in the big stash box. I wanted to get you something to try and quickly...and that's the best I could do on short notice.

Leave it at 9 for a few nights. Last night could easily have been a fluke and even if it wasn't...that little increase in AHI isn't anything I would worry about as long as I slept decently and feel decent.
I will often see more of a change in that with my AHI and not change a thing. We just don't/can't always sleep exactly the same every night.
What we do expect....expect to see variations from night to night no matter if we change something or not.

For me...how I sleep and feel matters so much more to me than the numbers all by themselves.

Over all since starting this journey. I've lost 16lbs so even the worst nights on the machine are better than before. I am so happy to finally sleep and have the energy to take aqua fit classes and do other stuff. Its amazing how much better I feel.

I will continue at 9 for a few more nights and see how it goes.

Best night yet. Most of the stuff from 4:30 on is SWJ. Looks like my settings and mask are finally all working. I can probably bump the epap a little maybe 9.4 or 9.6 if it would help?

You're in the range of 'pretty good', make small changes, wait a few days, (a cm here or there, I don't usually bother with fractional cm pressure changes). work on averages... don't make changes based on just one nights results when you're 'fine tuning'.

I tend to toss out anything that gets flagged very close to a known awake time...either before or after.
So based on the most recent report...I don't know that I would change anything unless I was just wanting to play around a bit.
It certainly isn't an urgent need.
And for sure never ever go changing anything based on one night of data that looks ugly.

That was a really good night pugsy, not a bad one. I've been at 9 pressure for a while just wasn't sure if I should try bumping it a little more. For the most part I've been running just under 4 since I switched to the nasal mask.

Here is a far more normal night. I know the machines can't fix the SWJ and pain but I wondered if bumping the pressure a little would keep me from getting that first hypopnea that leads to the swj or is it the other way and I am getting the hypopnea because I am already waking up?

Sometimes it's just impossible to know which came first....try more minimum EPAP pressure and see what happens.

what's your breathing look like leading up to the hypo? is it nice and even? or are you showing signs of irregular breathing?
