CPAP tubing plug??

Post by Jerseyguy » Thu Aug 16, 2018 6:59 pm

I recently found a spider in my room and it got me to thinking. What if one happened to make it's way into my tubing while not in use. Does any company make a plug that will fit CPAP tubing?

If it bothers you, put a wad of tissue in the end of the tube.
Do not look up the statistics on how many insects/spiders the average person ingests while asleep..
Do not search the forum archives for the image of an earwig in a cpap hose.
Please ignore the fact that I once found a dead silverfish in my tank.
Sleep well. You are safe. Mostly.

You guys are so funny..a bit cruel but funny nonetheless. Luckily, I just found a tubing connector, it will be a pain removing and connecting both sides to each other but I'll be able to sleep, mostly.

10 - 15 years ago when i was using symbicort, a baby spider got in my inhaler and had to have been sitting right on the medication outlet. when i hit the button. i felt it hit the back of my throat and i coughed it out in the sink. the little bugger had also bit my tongue somehow. the cover was on, so i don't know how he got in. The next time at the doctor i told him about it and the company rep happened to be there that day. so i talked to her and she made a report to the company. it's humorous now, but was not funny at the time.

Wow - I've never considered the possibility of a bug crawling into my CPAP stuff. And I hate bugs.

Chunky Frog, even though you said not to, I looked but couldn't find the pic of an earwig in a CPAP hose. Darn, the stuff of nightmares.

I can send you a few mating pair from Houston. Do you want the ones that fly? Just PM me your mailing address.

Easy way to stop anything from getting in your tube...………
I just use a cotton mesh , cut to the size I need and sew it into a tube shape... simple. Some folks just use a sock or if you are female or have one around just use a short nylon stocking... the kind that you wear with slacks.....again super simple.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

And you will prematurely wear out the tubing connector. I leave my mask connected to the tubing except fr the occasional cleaning.
I ruined a heated hose in less than a year by daily unplugging the mask daily. :(

Yikes. I just thought of my trip last year to Mexico. I slept on a sofa bed, and my machine was on the floor. I never did anything to cover my mask. I just coiled the hose next to the machine. Granted, the cockroaches usually only come out at night, and I did see them on previous trips. But still. That thought was not a good one.
I keep my hose and mask in a drawer when not in use. But a spider could get in there. Never thought about it before.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?
