If EPR is "dangerous," then why aren't Bilevel machines, which have the same mod only a wider gap, dangerous?
I've been asking myself the same question :D
Add me to that list of people wondering too.
Also wondering if EPR is so dangerous then why do we have it available as a "comfort" feature that it is totally acceptable for the user to mess with when we aren't even supposed to smart enough to change the pressure ourselves because it's "too dangerous".

Just because a really small percent of people develop centrals using it....and then the first thing people are given to combat centrals is a regular bilevel machine. Makes a lot of sense doesn't it...or should I say "non sense".

That's like saying "A small percentage of people develop centrals *just from pressure* CPAP IS DANGEROUS!

Dunno. What comes across is someone who doesn't know what it really is, and doesn't want the user in control of ANYTHING.

I remember when I went up to the sleep lab the day before my test to try masks and try to find one which would work, the technician turned on the blower and I was strangling. No trouble breathing in, could NOT breathe out against the constant pressure. Technician eyed me doubtfully, and said, "Most people prefer a constant pressure." I said, "Not if I can't breathe! It sort of defeats the purpose of having a CPAP!" He agreed and tried me on a bilevel. It worked. I got lucky with a good respiratory therapist at the DME....
