Frequent wake ups during the night for any reason will mess with how we feel the next day because the sleep architecture gets messed up. We need the nice normal progression into each sleep stage and the normal % of time in each sleep stage for the restorative powers of sleep to work their magic.

Even with an AHI of 0.0...if you wake up (you may or may not remember waking up) very many times you are going to not feel so great the next day even with adequate total hours of sleep.

I asked about meds because some meds have side effects that can mess with sleep architecture. Beta blockers not usually but google the side effects just to make sure.
The OTC stuff...I have no idea but if they have anything that speeds us up...check the half life if you can because the things that speed us up can be a factor in sleep disturbance and sleep maintenance insomnia.

And a little more pressure might help. Worth trying.

Sorry the med I take is lisinopril, which is an ACE blocker. I have adjusted the min/max to 8.5 and 15, but honestly I believe I can go higher on the min pressure. Definitely better and only woke up twice that I know of. Once to pee and the other time I am not sure why. Since I am new to CPAP and have years under my belt of not sleeping I have moved vitamins around, etc. to make sure nothing is too energizing late in the day. I have tried a few masks but by far my favorite one is the Dreamwear gel pillows one, followed by the Brevida. I am including last nights results for you guys to see.

And thank you all for your help! I was floundering before I came to this site! I never would have given in and started treatment if I didn't find you.

Are you of an age where the prostate might be causing the wake ups to pee?

You could try more minimum pressure and see if it helps anything in terms of sleep quality but there's nothing on this report pointing to actually needing more pressure.

Pugsy I would like to think not! I still see myself as 32, but alas I am almost 44! I still think I am too young for prostate issues, but they do run in the family but normally don't become aggravated for another decade or so. I would do a cartwheel (if my fat ass could) if I slept through a solid night!

Any suggestions?

About the nocturia??

Talk to your doctor. Have him check out the old prostate just to make sure you don't have BPH going on.
Also take a hard look at how much liquid you intake and when and what kind...soda, coffee, tea, etc.
Look at any of your meds and OTC supplements have some sort of diuretic in them.....

I do take a lot of vitamins
This is what typically happens. A person starts losing energy, feeling fatigued and sleeping poorly. They start reading and looking at ads. The marketing works - they start consuming various supplements.

Later, things get desperate, and they finally get diagnosed with sleep apnea. CPAP is the proper prescription for sleep apnea. The patient doesn't think to review the supplements he is taking in light of his new diagnosis. The supplements were never doing any good, are not doing any good now and may be doing some damage. (For example, this study found some vitamin B supplements are associated with an increased risk of lung cancer - https://cancer.osu.edu/news-and-media/n ... -among-men ).

Oh great..... As I OD on vitamins and supplements and then find I have to take ZERO to finally sleep there's a link to cancer. At least I'll sleep peacefully.

Also you have no idea the amount of stuff I was taking to knock my ass out. Valerian root, GABA, Magnesium, B1, Passion Flower, hops, and L-Theanine. Obviously none of it worked and I would wake up banged up from no sleep and drugged. For years.

I still find it absolutely amazing that ONE device that involves no drugs or herbs or vitamins has made such a world of difference for me. In fact even my partner commented on how much nicer and happier I am since I put on my happy mask! :D

See if you can answer this.

What is the most common treatment for sleep apnea?

Hint: It is not CPAP.

Sleeping pills? It is the one thing I didn't take since I was afraid of becoming addicted. Sleepless and an addict can't be a good combination.

Answer: Caffeine!

Various "sleep aids" are probably number two.

Hey Den, your APAPs might have older algorithms. I found a big change from an S8 to my S9 and too read that the S9 responds faster. I tweaked my minimum to be closer to my median and found more restful sleep. Might check.
