Re: A new mask by Philips Amara View and Dreamwear combo
Definitely will give it a try.
Being full bearded guy, I’m rather limited to nasal pillow mask (that causes mouth leaks of course because my tongue relaxes and drops to the back)....
trying full face mask causes leaks around the mask due to beard on other hand.
Tonight I’ll be trying for the first time “good morning snore solution”. Can’t hurt to try. Cervical collar worked pretty well and held my lower jaw good, which limited leaks, but was sooo uncomfortable.
I also tried PURESLEEP mouth guard and hated it.
And at this point I’m tired of buying $100+ masks just to try it and return it in few days (cost of shipping it back)
This looks promising though.

Re: A new mask by Philips Amara View and Dreamwear combo
I haven't tried a new mask in forever, but I would like to try this. I had terrible leaks from Amara view plus some skin irritation on my nose, and loved Dreamwear except for chipmunk cheeks and mouth leaks even with tape and a collar, so it sounds like this might be ideal. My only fear is conducted noise from that hollow tubing....

I would be interested also..... been trying to find a full face to help me with mouth leaks, but nothing has been ok for me yet, so might as well give this a whirl when it becomes available......

I was actually one of the testers for this mask from Philips. Had it for about 60 days. I loved it! Very comfortable with minimal to no leakage. I will DEFINITELY use it when it becomes available.

How neat! How was the conducted noise in the tubing? Noisy vents?

In response to JimW and Recipiefordisaster,
I had to send the mask back after the trial period so they could check wear and tear from daily use. I was compensated for trialing the mask, so did not receive one, and since it was a testing model, changes may have been made for the production model based on feedback. (I could not see any changes from the testing model from the picture supplied by the OP.) The testing process is interesting and I'm glad to have been involved. (I've been involved in other mask trials also.)
The mask was very quiet with no noise from the "inflating headgear". The headgear was actually quite comfortable and held the cushion securely and comfortably. I also must mention that I have a mustache, yet it did not interfere with the way is seals against the nose. The nose is NOT covered by the mask, the cushion seals against the nostril openings. There are no nubs that insert into the nostril either.

Re: A new mask by Philips Amara View and Dreamwear combo
When I studied the picture, it looked like there is a strap going up over the ear to the frame, and a broad "patch" (the dark grey piece) that would sit on the back of the head---kind of like a variation on the Wisp headgear. See here:Mikebear wrote:Maybe a person could modify the back strap, so that instead of it going around the lower neck, it could use "ear-loops" to go around the ears on each side instead and stay on that way...
So, that strap would now become TWO straps, one on each side at only a slightly higher angle. Then it wouldn't need to go around the entire back of the neck at all...
It seems to ME, that my idea outlined above would be more universal, and superior to what they have now.

. . .so the fit pressure would be spread out more evenly than a simple strap encircling the neck.
I'd like to try this mask. I've been thinking about getting a ffm version in the event I get too congested with cold/flu, but actually haven't needed one yet, as I've been able to nose breathe successfully for the colds I've had. I love my Wisp, and this new mask looks like it might be a good alternative.

Not that I have been able to find. Can't see it on the one picture above and can't find it mentioned in any Respironics product information.Soothest Sleep wrote:Does this new mask have a name yet??
They may just call it "DreamWear full face mask" for all we know. Pretty sure they will keep the "DreamWear" part though.

The longer the wait--the greater the hype.
Who can say when--or even how satisfying the result will be.
Cross your fingers, folks.

Darn, I need a new mask now and this looked like something I wanted to try. Oh well.Pugsy wrote:It's new and doesn't appear to be available just yet. It's not even on the Respironics website that I went to.
You might ask your DME to keep you in mind if they happen to get one to demo. Often before a mask gets released to the public some DMEs will get demo models for people to try and give reports back.
Unsure when this will be released for full retail market...could be 2 months...could be 6 months.
