Nasal Aire II--Free to a good home!
Nasal Aire II--Free to a good home!
Size Medium, M-plus, Large included. Used one unpleasant night--not for me. Someone once sent me a Comfort Curve free, and so I'm returning the favor. I hope somebody out there wants to try this, as I did! (Non-smoking home...)

The Nasal Aire II has been claimed.
I have been using the Swift, with pretty good results. I have had several nights with a sore nose--a little crack, probably the dry weather....So, I just bought a replacement hose for the ComfortCurve, since that does seem to work for me, but it leaked at the elbows. I hooked it up (it came today), and it seems leak free, so I'll try that tonight.
What I wish I had was a Hybrid, since I have a bad sinus/head cold. So far, I've been relying on Afrin to clear my nose at night, but I can't keep that up forever, as I'm aware of its addictive properties....Too bad, since it really works like a charm. However, my insurance is tapped out for the year (thank to the DME charging a fortune for equipment!!!) I'll be able to get one in January, but will have to muddle through till then!
I've been fortunate--things do seem to be working out OK. I still have issues with wetness inside the Swift--not rainout, but condensation from my breath, I think. I have a hose cover, and I run the machine on passover mode. I can't really do an aussie cover, since I live in a very old house and have already overloaded the one outlet in the room!

svh,
Did you ever sew the swift straps where you had pinned them. How did that fix work.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery from your cold.
Have you tried some of the nasal rinses that are listed on the boards.
There are some post in this topic about rinses:

For the hybrid, I suggest that you test one out before buying if possible. People either like it or they do not.
Good Luck.

No, I haven't sewn the straps yet--but am thrilled with the alteration. I just haven't bothered, since the safety pins seem to be holding fine. Lazy, I guess. I now sleep all night, except when I sometimes wake to wipe the wetness from my nose/from the nasal pillows. I am no longer sleepy in the afternoons. I do still get sleepy at night earlier than I'd like, but it's pretty reasonable progress, I'd say! No more am headaches, either. No magical weight loss or abounding energy, but still, improvement to be sure!

Just like everything in your body, tissue dies if it doesn't get proper blood flow. Those nasal sprays work by constricting the blood flow to the turbinates and surrounding tissue. These tissues which cover the turbinate bony structure shrink and swell which is how they control moisture and warmth entering the lungs from the nose. Eventually that tissue dies back from lack of proper blood flow, then you have real problems like chronic congestion where no spray found will work even the steroidal sprays. The steroidal sprays don't cause the long term effects.
you can run across the snow covered lawn in your bare feet to get the paper, it will be cold but you'll be fine when you get back in the warmth of the house. But if you stop and stand there overnight you'll probably end up with frost bite after the blood in the foot freezes, then you lose your foot from lack of circulation.
Same thing with the tissue in your nose and why they have a do not use more than 3 days warning on the label.
Below is all you need, works just as fast and is cheap by comparison, use it every night if you want, doesn't constrict any blood vessels, it works by flushing out the allergens attached to that nasal tissue that causes it to become inflamed in the first place, the soothing effects of the saline solution is just like the tears in your eyes it soothes the tissue so the inflammation goes down where congestion is reduced. Ask your allergist, they will tell you the same thing.

It is NOT that it is addictive, it is that it causes rebound. Rebound is where the tissues in the nasal passage become inflamed and swell due to the the blood vessels being constricted from the effects of the Afrin. The use of the Afrin itself then is the cause of the congestion, not the allergen.I've been relying on Afrin to clear my nose at night, but I can't keep that up forever, as I'm aware of its addictive properties....

Sarah that is major improvement.
You may not think you have abounding energy, but the fact that you can do without your afternoon nap or feeling sleepy in the afternoon, is very good progress.
I try to go without naps, but crash before supper time, not a good time to hit the wall.

I understand that this would probably work, but I simply cannot bring myself to do it--I'd feel like I was drowning. Thank you, though. I appreciate the advice.
