DRY EYE SYNDROME

Post by AMESS » Sat Oct 28, 2017 8:04 am

According to articles I have read, I probably have dry eye syndrome from CPAP. This could explain all the tearing I have. Yes tearing is one of the symptoms. An apt. with an eye doc is on the horizon. Is there anyone here who has this syndrome? Had this many years ago and needed Restasis to get rid of it. Took about a year. However, CPAP is ongoing, and this may not be the answer.

Yes.. no big deal. You should stop reading on the internet and diagnosing yourself. I just use an eye gel at night when it crops up. I get it more when we have windy weather and I have been outside too much. I just "gel" up for a few nights and I am good. The one I use is called genteal gel, you just put a small amount in the corner of your eyes and hop off to bed. Like I said, no big deal.

As I stated, I had it very bad a few years ago . Besides the tearing it felt like sand was in my eyes. There are degrees of dry eye. It was not a gen teal answer. And yes, because it caused so much pain and headaches it was a big deal. Right now the tearing never goes away and the eyes are irritated all day.

YUP! Same symptoms I get. But then you are the expert you looked it up on the internet. There are folks that will get a splinter in their thumb and think the world is crashing in on them, and then there those that just take the splinter out and add a drop or two of antiseptic to the "wound". Easy peasy - gen teal works it was actually recommended by my eye doctor.

No I said I was to a doc about this. It is doubtful your gel will help. What will u say when I tell u it did not?

The Internet is not a bible. But perhaps you need to look there to see all the problems that come from dry eye.

Hi Amess,
I also have dry eyes, watery, blurry vision, itching.
My optometrist recommended Systane Gell which I use first thing in the morning. It completely controls it.
If you wanna try it, keep in mind that your vision may be blurry for a while after application, mine lasts about 20 minites.
Best of luck...Dave

Me too, I have dry eyes and just use a gel to treat it when it flairs up, but I use it a night then I'm asleep so don't care if my eyes are blurry.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

Hey Nan, Thanks for the advice. So, you only use it 1 time at night and you go all the next day without any problems? If so,that's awesome and I will also be using it at night.

If it's not something, it's something else.
It's always something.

Hi! What is the name of the gel you use and can you buy it over the counter?
