Is your server loaded from the Encore software? Then be sure the reader driver is loaded and the computer recognizes it. When inserting the card, the light should turn green if it is reading it. In Encore, set up a user and match it to the card. You should be able to download data from the card then.

Hi Thank you for your response. I have been trying for a week to get this going. I have the icon encore pro and when I click into it it says MSDE installer encountered an error. I cant even put any information in it. I downloaded the encore pro with difficulty and then plugged the card reader into the back of computer and reader turns green then red and says MSDE installer encountered an error. I am not computer knowledgeable so I need step by step instructions. Im so frustrated!

Its not exactly clear what you are saying. Are you getting the installer error when you click on the encore pro icon or when you plug in the smart card reader (or both)

The card reader is in when the error message comes up.

I believe I would first try updating windows and then deleting the installation of Encore Pro. Then start back new and install Encore and see it it installs ok then. You should have a icon at the bottom right showing Microsoft server running. Get Encore running correctly first. Then, load the card driver. Maybe your downloaded Encore file is faulty. I can send you a disk if you want.

Would you do that? That is just so thoughtful and I would be happy to pay for it.

Hi before I do that I see that my SQL service manager is off. How would I turn it on? when I click start it says the service control action cannot be completed as no service has been selected. Did you say 50 dollars and is that for the encore pro installation disk?.

Sounds like the driver is not installed properly. Where did you get the driver that you installed for the smart card, from the smart card box or the Encore Pro disc?
