[quote="NyNurse33"]Can I just say? That you guys are totally awesome (and no I'm not a valleygirl) Its so nice to talk to people who understand what I'm going through. My husband, mother ,friends, they just don't get it. They just think I snore. Well 2nd night and could absolutely not do cpap last night, I think I would of died in my sleep if I forced it. LOL. I am waiting to feel better, but of course without cpap its a cycle. I hope everyone else who is currently sick, feels better soon too. Like most of you, I can feel the difference with vs without cpap, but while using it constantly, I wasn't. We'll see. Thanks again.

Getting sick with cpap is really an awful experience. With cold or flu's the best way to survive it is to get plenty of rest...without our cpap we get no rest which can't do wonders for getting over the sickness quickly. I still get a little shudder thinking about the last time I was sick on cpap. Hang in there!
I have been working on a theory about the honeymoon period. The gist of it is that we are SO tired when we first get treated that any other item that would affect our sleep is a bit insignificant and we get great sleep. As we pay off our sleep debt those little items that affect non-cpaper's start having an effect on our ability to get restful sleep. I have been getting decent sleep lately, I feel rested but not super energetic. I have been attempting to identify all the factors that affect my ability to sleep. I already know that I am going to end up turning myself into a lab rat in an effort to attain the mythical "perfect nights sleep". lol. It is easy to get obsessive about the subject, I know I spend way more time thinking about sleep than I probably should. hehe.

Roberto, I don't know why my pressure went so high. It did it for both nights and last night my throat was so dry I didn't have my machine on for more than 15 minutes before I took it off. I was titrated for a range of 7 to 20 or a fixed of 7. These last few nights are the only times I have gone over 10 or 11 so it must be the cold. Going to try it again tonight. Thanks for the concern.

One thing about having to go without XPAP for a number of nights is that you REALLY get an appreciation for what it does for you when you use it.
Been there......done that!
Wishing you all good health.

I came down with my first cold just 4 days after starting CPAP!! At the same time, I was practically living at the nursing home with my grandma while she was in her last week of her journey here on earth, and then she passed away, and I was in Illinois living between my mom's house and my brother's. In spite of ALL that was going on in my first two weeks on CPAP--including the cold--I felt better than what I had felt in years!! Gotta love that CPAP Cindy
