Now that you have used the Hybrid

I have been using the Hybrid for about 4 weeks now. I had been using the swift mask. My biggest complaint about the swift mask was that I had to use a chin strap since I tend to be a mouth breather. The chin strap made me feel like a mummy, my face felt warm, and the strap on the Swift mask bore into the back of my head. The Hybrid mask is very comfortable to me and I don't have to wear a chinstrap. In the beginning, I couldn't develop a routine to methodically/efficiently put on the mask. Then, I read on one of the threads a simple technique that I now employ. I drape the headgear over my head without the mask. Then, I fit the mask in my nostrils and connect the upper two snaps. Then, I connect the lower two snaps.
As for performance, I have been confused by the readings I'm getting. My AHI's have most of the time been in excess of 5 and the leak rate has been significantly higher than the Swift mask (.44 - .70). I don't feel that there are leaks but maybe I don't know what to look for? The reason why I am concerned is that I don't feel fully rested when I get up.

The Hybrid pillow mask is the best thing that has happened for me since my therapy started. I would have given up on CPAP without it. I can only thank this board for finding and educating me about this wonderful answer to the tape mess I found myself dealing with every night. Thanks you, Cpaptalk.com !
I had said I was going to stop using the Hybrid for awhile-I have used the Flexifit for a couple nights-the numbers are better but not my sleep/comfort. The Hybrid was yelling to me from it's box in the back room. Smoke from the fires is blowing our way so sinuses are kicking up regardless of what I do-back to the drawing board and another try tonight.

Draining sinuses and Hybrid
Got mine today but have had sinus issues for months. I honestly believe I ciuld get this to fit but seconds after turning on the pressure my sinuses drain like crazy to the point of (I know it's gross) running down my chest. Any suggestions? I have chronic sinus infection so it's probably good that they drain but???

I have used it on and off for approx. 2 months now, hated it for several weeks, kept trying since I also hate taping my mouth to use my breeze mask. Now, after removing the flap it works well for the first 4 hours of sleep. Leakage starts then and seems to be impossible to stop. I then continue with my breeze mask without taping to finish my nights sleep.
The headgear, however, is lousy. The velcron straps don't hold. I'm using sticky tape to fix them. My supplyer seems to be hesitant to replace it by something better.

Hybrid
I have had my Hybrid for one full week and I love it. I never thought I would give up my nasalaire II, but I need a break from my chinstraps and this is such a great mask, I can't believe it. I love it , I love it, I love it.
One thing , however. It sometimes shows I'm leaking when I know I am not. Anyone else have this problem?

Because of the high exhaust washout it will read as having higher leaks. I think the normal leak rate for this mask is around 43 at pressure of 8.

I wanted another option in the poll, like "I got higher numbers but still plan to revisit it when my sinuses are better". The Hybrid is so well conceived that I can't believe it will not work for me. However, the F&P HC431 is my default at the moment.

datona, bdp522 is right. The Hybrid has a much higher normal "leak" rate (from the exhaust) than most other masks.
dsm has a handy chart at his website, showing the normal vent leak rates from quite a few masks. The Hybrid is at the bottom of the chart.

The figures in bold at the top and bottom of the chart are cmH20 pressures. There's more washout from any mask, the higher the pressure being used.

Thanks RG. What would we do without you?!? I knew I'd read it somewhere! Of course when I tried to find it I couldn't. I printed it out this time so I'll know where it is next time!
