Rainout? help please..

Post by musicjan » Tue Sep 12, 2006 10:54 am

Is this rainout? It was cold in the bedroom, and I woke up with my face wet. Unfortunately, I can't remember for sure what to do about it. I think one poster said you can even cover the hose with a leg cut out of nylon pantyhose?
Please refresh my memory. Thanks.

Yes it's rainout caused by the air becoming too cool to contain the moisture which has been put into it.
Remedies:
Keep the air warmer by raising the room temp or insulating the hose/mask so they can't get cool.

Lower the amount of moisture in the air by lowering the humidifier setting.

Heat the hose by substituting a heated hose for the normal one.

See the rainout section of this article for several ideas,

The Australian heated hose should definitely solve the problem.

I've been using that "heated cpap tube" for over three years. Wonderful invention from sleepzone.com.au
