Does Trump have that much power? Honestly? I call this "self-induced". Did this kind of thing happen when other presidents were elected?

Let's see there are Obama, Bush 43, Bush 41, Clinton, Nixon, Regan (who else?) to choose from. How about a spouse? Or a boss? Health issues? PTSD?

Bottom line - You and only you can change the way you think, the way you behave, who YOU give control to, who YOU allow to control you.

Well...call it what you want and feel about it like you want but it is what it is and very real to some people.
It's not so easy to just make life stressors go away so they don't impact us. If it were people wouldn't need all this therapy stuff...drug and talking therapy. We would just say "friggin guest says we shouldn't let this bug us so poof...it doesn't bug us".
Give me a break.

It's not your place to dictate my life or how I feel or what stressors I "allow" to affect my life....or how I choose to deal with them.
But then I guess you are perfect and therefore qualified to cast the first stone.
I wish to hell you would register and log in so I could put you on my ignore list.

Not dictating anything to anyone just calling it like it is "self-induced". And no I can't help with that except to point out the obvious, sorry.

You're most welcome. As I suspected, the data doesn't show a marked difference in sleep quality. It's the amount of (or some nights, the absence of) sleep that's an issue for me lately.

I slept for almost seven hours last night, though, so that's an improvement. It may just be that the exhaustion is finally catching up with me; but however it happened, I hope it continues...

Again...it's your opinion that it is "self induced"....and it's my opinion that it isn't necessarily and hinting that the problem is me...and I should be able to control my thoughts better...might be a piece of cake for someone as perfect as you are but might not be that way for us lowly peons.
Just because you call it like you think it is....doesn't make it so.

It is my opinion certainly and you have expressed your "opinion". Does your opinion Trump everyone elses opinion here?

I honestly didn't realize that you were also having this "denial" problem.

Back in the day this was a discussion forum. And I bet if I were to search I could find where you said (once upon a time) everyone is entitled to their very own opinion.

Yes, dumbass, he does. Are you paying any attention at all to what he's done already? The people he's nominated? The people he's surrounded himself with in the WH who are chiming in on the terrible decisions he's making? He's temperamental, unqualified, boorish, consumed by his lack of popularity, easily offended by any criticism (no matter how inconsequential, like SNL), and he's likely to get us all killed with his "tough guy" persona. He's as thin-skinned, hypersensitive and shallow as they come. Jeezus, wake the fuck up already.

No, it didn't. Nobody in the WH has *ever* scared me as much as this asshole. I could live with *any* other Republican in office. I don't agree with Republican ideology, but no Republican president has ever had a negative impact on my sleep before (because I considered them at least SANE).

Self-induced, my ass. HE is ruining my sleep.

I haven't publicly stated by opinion of the man. It isn't nice though.

Nope...my opinion doesn't trump anyone's opinion...but the same goes for you bucko.
I really resent anyone who tells anyone that something "is all in your head" which is what you are saying..
And you are again assuming something about me.... that I am in "denial"...you have no idea where I am.

It doesn't matter if someone is losing sleep over the election or if they are worried about something else entirely....to tell someone
"you brought the problem on to yourself" is just plain cold and heartless and not nearly as easy of a fix as you seem to think it is in your perfect little world.

Thank you again, Pugsy, for your ability to remain so civil. I've obviously lost any desire to be diplomatic on the topic (and offer no apology for that). I'm really fed up with Dumpsters, and it shows.

It's a good thing people couldn't read my mind. It was far from civil.

I just hate it when anyone (not just you) gets blasted for having any sort of mental health issues (and depression over the Pig in charge sure qualifies as a mental health issue) and it's all in our heads and we can just turn a light switch and turn it off and everything should be all hunky dory if we would/could just manage our minds better.

Do we tell someone who has had someone close die that their bad feelings are "self induced" and hint that if they were better or stronger they wouldn't feel like shit?

To me it's no different...no matter what the cause...telling someone that a problem "it's self induced" is a slap in the face and I will slap back.

Empathy or compassion....somethings that a lot people seem to find in short supply.
Especially the people who have different political views. They are right and we are wrong/stupid or whatever because we don't agree with them.
They have a right to be happy with the results but for some reason can't seem to understand that we have the same right to be unhappy with the results...and we have the same right to voice our unhappiness as they do to voice their happiness.
But no...there's something wrong with us because we voice our unhappiness.
Makes my ass want to dip snuff.

And to our illustrious "Guest" who thinks the lack of sleep is self-induced:

If *he's* mentioning the issue, it's obviously widespread. Now, I hope you'll exit on that high horse you rode in on.
