Yes, you said that very nicely, palerider. JimW159's erroneous post threw me a curve ball and had me searching to understand what he was talking about. This was especially true since I know Dr. Park to be a highly competent doctor and writer. It was only some minutes later that I read further down in the thread and saw that JimW159 had indeed made a mistake that others also caught. The mistake should be edited out of this thread.palerider wrote:in the interest of clarity for whoever is reading the thread, if you make a mistake, it does make sense to go back and fix it, rather than potentially sending people on wild goose chase, assuming they''ll get around to the correction at some point.

Vote for my new CPAP book cover
Re: Vote for my new CPAP book cover
Re: Vote for my new CPAP book cover
Dr. Park is one of the most balanced and informed proponents of PAP therapy that I have ever had the pleasure to meet and to hear speak on the subject. And he is hands-down the most balanced surgeon I've heard speak on the subject. He also respects this forum and is one of the few authors brave enough to post here. So a little courtesy just might be in order.
Doctor, I am sure the information will be helpful to people. But none of those covers grab me, unfortunately. I also find the title a bit distracting--but maybe that is the point, I don't know. It is easily misread at first glance, especially with that font, as being "Totally CRAP." Maybe that double-take is what you are going for, but it does give any future reviewers a very tempting line to use. Just sayin'. It might help the eye if there was something CPAP-related on the cover, or else the title may need a rethink.
Just one man's opinion. And the opinion was free. And one often gets what one pays for, doesn't one?

Bowing to your superior wisdom and having removed the "offending paragraph," could you now delete your quotes of the same? I would not want to further confuse the issue.ChicagoGranny wrote:What the heck are you talking about?? That is not Dr. Park's website.

Re: Vote for my new CPAP book cover

Jim you're doing OK, what's your avatar about?
You have posted above:
I think you may be missing something; in looking at Dr. Parks website ( http://doctorstevenpark.com ) I note no abundance of a surgical solution preference. In fact, in sections of his blog he presents a strong case for CPAP as the optimal treatment. He also presents an argument that human physiology and changes in craniofacial development contribute to the prevalence of sleep disorders. ( http://doctorstevenpark.com/sleep-apnea ... al-problem )
Notice that Dr Park has not commented any where about Hypersomnia, for example, which requires knowledge in NEUROLOGY.
Have you seen this interview with Dr Park:
http://www.sleep-apnea-guide.com/sleep- ... -park.html
In my opinion, Dr Park should not publish a book about CPAP treatment without consulting with us first. In the past he used to post here almost daily and recommending all kind of upper airways surgeries but usually was attacked by members who underwent such surgeries.

None of them really tripped my trigger but I don't know what to tell you would have tripped my trigger.
I am not very good at that sort of thing.
Thank you Jim for editing your post. It had me confused and trying to figure out where you came up with those thoughts from just looking at the cover. I was wondering if I needed new glasses.

Re: Vote for my new CPAP book cover
I suspect the "Totally CRAP" impression may be intended to grab the attention of
newbies totally opposed to the idea of sleeping with a machine and a mask for the rest of their lives.
Hubby called it a "crap" machine at first, and now he is very sporadic in his use.
He claims it gives him respiratory infections.
Yes, I know: a crock of ca-ca, but his apnea is mostly positional,
so he only uses it when the arthritis forces him to sleep on his back.

Re: Vote for my new CPAP book cover
I lived in Greece in the late sixties and had a get-away place on an Island called Hydra. With no cars or trucks on the island one walked everywhere. The quayside was the business and social hub of the island and visitors arriving on the ferry often gathered there to café hop on sunny days. Café Poseidon was central to this (it is now called Tasso's I think) and was a refuge when the weather was raw. On one afternoon in October or November I moved inside to escape the cold drizzle outdoors and found this gentleman taking his siesta in the back of the room. Siestas are common in Greece and many proprietors pose no obstacle to catching a few zzz when the spirit moves you. The sight of elderly gentlemen in similar poses was familiar even in the heart of Athens, where I lived. I thought this picture was emblematic of what brings us all together here: the search for restful slumber.avi123 wrote:

Re: Vote for my new CPAP book cover
Dr Park, thanks for the table of contents.
I would title the book:
CPAP Success and Beyond
I took this sentence from the list of the contents.
I would delete the pillow(s) and illustrate a CPAP.
How about an illustration of an AirSense™ 10 AutoSet For Her CPAP Machine with HumidAir™ Heated Humidifier ?
Get someone to hand draw it.
