Vote for my new CPAP book cover

Post by sypark » Mon Nov 07, 2016 8:55 pm

I’ve been working furiously to publish my book on CPAP. What started out as a simple e-book ended up becoming a full-fledged book, with multiple revisions, delays, and more revisions. The basic manuscript is finished. Now comes the book’s cover. I’ve whittled it down to three great designers and their proposals.

Please go here to vote: Voting ended. See result below.

I'd appreciate your honest opinion about the following:

1. Which one is most likely to make you pick up the book to read the back cover?

2. Which subtitle do you prefer?

3. Which design has the most impact factor in getting your attention?

Thanks again for your input,

Steven Y. Park, MD

Here's the winning design: http://doctorstevenpark.com/totally-cpa ... ign-winner
(sorry, but I had trouble uploading the cover file)

Dr Steven, I would not pick any book that has a pillow on the cover because I would assume that it is about "My Pillow".

Put this photo instead:
It is from the Consumer Reports on Health about treating INSOMNIA.
Image

Delete from the title of the book "restoring your life" which is nonsense.

Could you please post here the CONTENTS of the book.

I disagree with avi123 on the picture. First, it is not certain the use would be royalty-free or that you could even get permission. Secondly, any picture on a book about CPAP that shows anyone in bed without a CPAP would, I think, confuse the issue and might even be seen as meaning that it may not be needed.
I do agree about the phrase "restoring your life." An alternative I would offer would be "...guide for restoring restful sleep."

I doubt it that Dr Park's book will be about CPAPs but it will be about Dr Park's specialty which is surgeries, i.e. avoiding CPAPs.

This website is about CPAPs.

There is no need for a book written by a surgeon for using CPAPs.

That's why I ask Dr Park to post the contents of the book.

There is already a book about avoiding CPAP written by a dentist.

I voted for #8 because it is the most restful looking.

"... reclaiming your sleep and restoring your life" absolutely works. In my time on the forum, this is exactly what we have seen many newbies coming here to attempt.

You are nutz. Dr. Park is a leading champion of CPAP.

JimW159 wrote:I would add one more thing: there is a box on http://www.sleep-apnea-guide.com/cpap-machine.html that is headed "Learn More" when you are listing CPAP manufacturers. In this box you list ResMed and Fisher Paykel; none of the machines referenced in the links in the box are current and have not been available for some time.
What the heck are you talking about?? That is not Dr. Park's website.

Shut up Avi. As usual your comments are ignorant.

That picture you suggest is even more stupid. Putting young white hetro couple on the cover is so last century. He is not selling a sex book.

I think you may be missing something; in looking at Dr. Parks website (http://doctorstevenpark.com) I note no abundance of a surgical solution preference. In fact, in sections of his blog he presents a strong case for CPAP as the optimal treatment. He also presents an argument that human physiology and changes in craniofacial development contribute to the prevalence of sleep disorders. (http://doctorstevenpark.com/sleep-apnea ... al-problem)

I previewed Dr Park's book, and Granny, I agree that he is an outstanding proponent of cpap use,
specifically, EFFECTIVE, INFORMED therapy!
And, Blackspinner, avi's suggestion is so last century!

I think not, he may have already read it and I would prefer he understand that some users of this forum are paying attention to what he says and are courteous enough to acknowledge errors.
Besides that, my opinion of the "Guide" I referenced remains, just not my attribution to Dr. Park.
in the interest of clarity for whoever is reading the thread, if you make a mistake, it does make sense to go back and fix it, rather than potentially sending people on wild goose chase, assuming they''ll get around to the correction at some point.

like the newspaper that prints some attention grabbing headline and then prints a retraction a few days later on page F37.
