I have seen your posts. All pretty much helpful as far as I remember.
I don't know about the other forum members but when I see a post that answers the question then I rarely respond in that thread unless I am adding something different or maybe expanding something.
I don't see the need to repeat what someone else has already said and I don't/won't do it unless I just maybe miss reading it.
I am not much into doing the +1 thing to show agreement.

So..if you think I have ignored you it's not that I made a mental choice to "ignore a newbie"...it's just that I didn't have anything to add because you already said what I would have said and I move on to the next post/thread/whatever.

Would you feel better if one of the forum veterans said something to sort of back you up?
Are you a bit unsure about what you might be offering?

I used to do a bit more extra stuff behind some postings and I didn't mean to sound overly critical or anything like that but some people took it that way and I got blasted for actually trying to clarify something...and I didn't think I was doing it in a disrespectful manner but I sure got my butt chewed by some people and when I get my butt chewed I tend to chew back (so then things got ugly)...so I tend to stay out of a thread if the question is sufficiently already answered by anyone and that includes a newbie like yourself.
I know exactly what you mean...damned if you do and damned if you don't.

When it comes to me...if you say something and I don't say anything...that's a good thing because it means I didn't need to explain any further and I moved on.
Thanks Pugsy,
That was beautifully explained. I do 'get it'. Sorry for sounding 'needy'. I guess I was trying to express how it feels to be new on this forum and the inclusiveness (or otherwise) of said forum. They are just observations, and very subjective, at that!

I am also very impressed at the thoroughness of your answers, so that is something for me to work on and emulate.

Regarding the sureness of my answers, I think I only post when I am very sure. This is all too important to people's health to give unsure answers. Thanks for explaining that no response from you is an affirmation. That helps.

One interpretation of a "moderately helpful post" being "totally ignored by the main posters" is that we (the main posters) didn't see anything inaccurate in your post and we did find that it would be helpful to the OP.

A lot of us old timers don't have time to post a lot of "Good Job!" responses to posts that have a helpful and accurate response. Some of us are busy with other things, including writing long and thoughtful posts on problems that are NOT easy to answer.

So do keep that in mind: If no one jumps in to correct you, that's a good sign that you posted something useful and accurate.
Cool, got it. Thanks. I feel so included now! I do admire the time and effort that people take to respond to difficult problems.

The question I ask myself before I post in answer to a clinical question is "Will this post raise the ire of Palerider?"
The fact that it hasn't happened yet is very encouraging...

Whereas, if I only posted when I was "very sure," I'd never post at all. But hey, just me.

Such a shame! Civilised moderation is not Censorship!
Might depend on the nature of the question.

This board is more old-school, like early Internet boards where dinosaur-thick skin was necessary before attempting controversial statements. I generally read the ugliest posts, though, as being tongue-in-cheek self-parody. It IS often the Wild West. BUT warts and all, I believe that lives are saved here.

Some may actually feel safest posting in this asylum-flavor free-for-all instead of the places with confusing rules. Many here cruise the civilized forums in order to privately point desperate ones to this place where less mainstream answers can be given.

But I agree 100% that this place is an acquired taste and that it can even be a scary place where sustained participation involves willingness to keep up the good fight despite the flames and tantrums.

I wish that we could trust the forum software about the names in parentheses for the guest who just want to needless pick apart stuff with malicious intent.

You can't, the names in parentheses, only appear because of the provider used. Guest post are so useless they aren't worth tracking for the most part, most forums dont allow them for that reason. Jim

Nothing malicious it's just my opinion. You did say we are each entitled to an opinion right?
And could respond when we are poked, right?
And the Goodmans make the rules here, right?

And my opinion is that people who are selling should not go around needlessly insulting people just cuz they don't know who they are - they might be a customer, future, past, or present.

Today in one of the threads someone posted about a way that if you are not using your humidifier on your autoset anyway then you could make it smaller by buying a cap piece.

So ... I just had my first experience buying with cpap.com.

I swear ... I went there just to buy that piece?

...and they already had a psychic cart with everything I even really ever thought to buy.
It was CRAZY. Perfect though? I couldn't say no to anything and I don't regret the four small
purchases?

I just hope they get here before I leave for NYC.

This is definitely Off Topic but not very Duke?

Actually got really good news today and couldn't be pokey right now except in extreme jest.
Totally amazed about my shopping cart though?

it's like spooky genius?
I also ordered a book on how to raise your IQ by eating gifted children and I think there is a
sous vide recipe?

I'll let y'all know~~~
