Do people actually clean a hose? Just run some water through it and let it air dry.

I don't clean my hose. If you do a search at the top of the first page, you'll see many discussions on this topic.

I think that particular product is way over kill in terms of cleaning a cpap hose and I actually would be afraid to use it on a heated hose with all the wires and such. Looks like it would generate a lot of force there.

I don't wash/clean my hose either. I don't feel it gets dirty.
If I did decide to clean it I would just use plain hot soapy water. Sure wouldn't use anything abrasive or potentially damaging to the hose or wires since I use a heated hose and while they aren't horribly expensive I sure wouldn't want to make a habit of replacing it...not exactly cheap.
Been using this same S9 ClimateLine heated hose through 3 different ResMed machines...probably have over 10K hours on it....never have washed/cleaned it. I do look inside every now and then (to at least where I can look) and haven't seen anything growing in there. Looks just like the brand new spare ClimateLine I have had for years.

I actually own a hose brush, but it seems too rough on the hose to use very often without damage.
I have used it once on a tube. Now it pulls dust bunnies out from under the fridge.

There is no need to ever clean your hoses, not unless you actually see something visible that somehow got in. Big waste of time and energy, never mind money.

Why clean a hose? Nothing goes through it except the filtered air that you breath in your home blown over distilled water.

Overkill... even a hose brush is not needed unless you live in the tropics (possibly). I plug up the ends with paper towels to keep out critters and hang in my bedroom to somewhat dry, but that's about it.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Overkill. If you need to 'scrub' then what you do is cut out the spongy part of a 3M Scotchbrite. A couple of inches long and about 1/2 of the width of your tube. Make a couple of them. Pour water down hose. Soap them up good and with the water running, slide them down the tube 3 or 4 times. Then rinse and hang to dry. Not my original idea, but it worked quite nicely. Despite cleaning the hose periodically, my brother was getting algae growing in his tube and this cleaned it out quite nicely. He's still using the hose. Previously, he did not get heated hoses, and those generic hoses lasted 2-2.5 years before the ends started to crack. Now he uses Respironics heated hose, so don't know how long that will last. He doesn't heat the hose except maybe 2 weeks of the year.

I would much rather torment the dust bunnies under the fridge.

I guess I was being too difficult. I thought everyone cleaned their hoses. I am terrible about cleaning mine but aparently I don't have to worry too much about it. Thanks guys and gals.

Just rinse if you have time; and replace if it looks or smells funky, and washing doesn't help.
My current heated hose is about 23 months old.

Being unconventionl, I use Star San, a brewery and food grade acid sanitizer. Properly dilute it (1-oz / 5-gallons), put about half a quart into the hose, move it back and forth, and empty it out. It's actually a lot gentler than it sounds, and leaves a surface that is anti-bacterial. Without rinsing, it is often used on glassware and is perfectly clear, clean and odorless. Do what suits you for cleanng, but this has always left my equipment fresh and clean. https://www.amazon.com/Star-San-B0064O7 ... izer+32+oz

cleaning is what most likely caused algae (anything) to grow
people forget that tap (yes drinking) water contains bacteria
bacteria that would not otherwise enter a cpap hose
then the notion that a cpap hose has to be dried out
before it is hooked up to a humidifier simply
amuses the hell out of me
then leaving it to dry in any room where dust
and more bacteria freely just float around
but of all rooms why the bathroom?
i give up
