That Darn Cat

Post by shortyd » Wed Oct 12, 2016 8:40 am

I'm pretty sure my cat went potty on my machine. I keep it on the floor next to the bed at night then in the morning I put it on the table. I washed it with vinegar and soapy water and air drying I hope that works

I had a cat pee/spray right next to my CPAP once and it took awhile to get the odors out. Now the bedroom is a no-fly zone for our cats. I hope your machine is okay too.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Oh dear! That is not good. I just know my cat would attack the hose so for that reason I do not take it out of the bedroom and I do not allow the cat in the bedroom. She still causes everyone who enters this house to die of allergies! Cats!!! Hope you can get the smell out quickly!

Our Kitties are not allowed in our bedroom with out "Adult" supervision. IE they have the run of the house but when we're not home or when we're downstairs the bedroom door stays shut. I couldn't keep them out all the time. I'd miss my foot warmer and that awesome purring sound. One sleeps on me and the other sleeps next to my wife. Sorry about your machine. Hope you can get it clean.

I had it on the bed side table but I kept knocking it off and didn't want to damage it.

Industrial Velcro between table and machine.
Male cats spray if they are not neutered or not early enough.
Some will anyway.
We only have spayed female cats. Sweet babies.

Yes, indstrial velcro is the answer to everything that needs sticking. I think you could build a house with it.

I think they mean putting it around the machine, that cats don't like the feel and will avoid the area, but I could be wrong, maybe putting it on the cat would work. You could stick them to the wall, but duct tape would be cheaper. Jim

Living with cats, you should be use to the smell, the brain adapts.

I recomend surface washing what you can. Replace/wash the filter. Depending on outside weather turn off the auto start stop and start it up outside in the sun, in the fresh air, just let it buck for 4-6 hrs.(some where where it won't bake over 100 deg while it's running)

When I bring my machine on vacation with me to visit friends or family, that first night home, the smells that it picks up (good or bad) are a reminder of where I have been and they take a few days to fade.

If all else fails, remember your homeowner's or renter's insurance.

Please post your INS company, so us that don't have animals peeing on our stuff, can use a different INS company. Jim

When I told my wife about the cat sleeping on the OP's chest and purring, my wife said somebody should invent a soft fluffy object about the size and weight of a cat that people could put on their chest. Naturally it would have a sound generator in it that would simulate purring... patent it, of course. I suspect that most cats figuring out that ploy, at the first opportunity, would tear the hell out of the dummy cat in two minutes flat... then pee on it.

Okay, I just googled up this little monster Hasbro purring cat:

I'm sure you think that was hilarious, but... try sleeping (tummy-wise, tho' decades before OSA/Cpap) x 17 yrs with a cat on your back every single night (at some point) my ex was just thrilled, but the cat prevailed. I guess she thought I was her territory (had her prior to marriage) and wasn't going to budge!
