I would assume that any of those sorts of places would limit you to only 1 unit. Why would you want more than 1 anyways
?
As Severeena said, for backup and travel.
Maybe they would limit me to one, but since I've not gotten one yet, I still need the one they limit. Also, masks. They are made to be disposable for over $100 and are recommended replacing along with the hose at least every 6 months. Since you said it is more trouble getting one this way, I figure to start now in case mine were to stop. I would hate to be without treatment while they stall with paperwork. Just a list of about 5 sources will be fine since there are tons of them.

SNIDE???? Where do you get that from? Only thing I saw was eluding to your statement of tons of them and I ask for only 5. 5 shouldn't be a task if there are tons. I appreciate any help you could offer, if in fact you can. I've heard of people having machines new in their closets because medicare buys them one every 2 years. The ones I know that qualify for medicare, they get new masks/hoses every 6 months and machines 2yrs because that is required by DME's. For sanitation I guess. A machine, mask/hose every two years or even 3 would be fine with me. As I said, I don't qualify for medicare and have no insurance coverage remaining for OSA. You say there are many places that offer the eqipment for free or cheap. I only ask for a few and you call that snide? The machine I have now I paid for out of pocket, $1490. (Another sites sells it for $1098, I just didn't know it at the time.) BTW, I have searched for just that type thing in my area to no avail. I though your statement meant you knew of places, but evidently you don't and was just blowing hot air. Now that can be seen as snide but also appears fact.

Oh come on man. Look how you phrased what you said. I mean, if you really weren't intending to be snide I apologize, but you have to see how it comes across that way! The first thing you said was 'I'll take several of the free ones please' and then followed that up with 'Oh just a list of 5 will be fine since you say there are so many'
Seriously man, I apologize if you really weren't trying to be snide about it, but you gotta admit it sure sounds that way due to the phrasing.

Guest,
I've said this so many times to others about email, but it applies here, too. Something gets lost in translation when you cannot hear the printed word being spoken. That's why email, IM and postings on boards like these can be taken wrong. There are so many ways to say the same simple sentence and intonation plays a huge part in its meaning.
I can't speak for the author of the post you took as being "snide," but you didn't hear him say those words, so you can't be sure as to the intended meaning behind them. It could have been an innocent comment.

Please at least quote properly, not your words.
Actual quote:
I don't need a ton of them, just several of the free or cheap ones you mention.
The remark referred to a list of providers that offer free cpap machines, not the machines themselves from you. Then assuming you meant just at a reduced price I included maybe if you could just put me onto 5 place that offer free or reduced pricing since there are evidently tons of them I don't know about. I also stated I had searched my area to no avail. No snide remarks intended, however, can I expect a few in the next post or just forget it and says they don't exist? I don't understand the play on words to simple questions? If you really don't know of any then I can accept that but you should say so.

Oh no kidding! I couldn't agree more. It's the serious limiter to the internet! Heh. It's also why I continued to reference the
phrasing since that's all we have to go on when we read text on a screen. "Well, unless we all want to get into novella writing", he said with a joking laugh.
As to sthnreb, again based on your phrasing it sure
seems like you are being very inflammatory, however I will most certainly do what I can in an effort to help you. As I posted in response to snork1, I don't work in the field, but I will always do whatever I can to try and help someone i need. I'll poke around and see what I can come up with. In response to your question though, no I will not be able to list them in this post. That does not, however, mean that such programs and options do not exist. It means just what I offered to start with - I'll poke around and see what I can find out!

You can do what is called a PM ME to the person needing the information. I also think you could do a great service though to others with the information you have found.
You are allowed to post such info on this forum. I hope this helps.

If DME's provide so much more service than online stores as stated, why are so many people on this forum looking for answers and buying here? Wouldn't their DME's provide all the info they needed to keep them away from the internet? My DME brought an obsolete machine at the time (no longer available) to me and one mask, no try this one or that one. They were charging $400 a month rental and it wasn't rent to purchase. When they found out my insurance had reached it's maximum payout, they demanded I start paying it. (They had already collected enought to pay for the machine) Or, they would sell me this used obsolete machine for $3500. I purchased the newest Bipap Pro II online for $1569 at Cpap. The only benefits I saw was to the DME in the form of cash, none for their patient. Since all my future purchases was to be out of pocket, I came to the internet and I am glad I found this forum and the help it provides along with merchandise from Cpap.com. I have a Respironics Auto and am glad it's not Resmed in case I need repairs or parts at the coming 60% increases. There is no doubt at all, everyone here has gotten 10 times over more help than from a DME. So, price increases because of services provided by DME's is totally wrong. They demand the internet companies raise prices to match DME's but offer nothing in the demand for them providing more assistance to patients as the DME's provide (chuckle) Have a great day all and enjoy this forum.
As always, this is just my opinion.

My DME is Apria, and these clowns told me I had to take the machine I got. It looked new, ands I have had no problems. When I go ththe machine I had to pay them a co-pay of $105.75 (I still have a copy of my check) I got a mask, a hose a carrying bag and a Mudifier (Fisher & Paykel
HC150) I got a letter a couple of months ago at the end of April that I owed them a co-pay for the humidifier of $65.00 .
Seems to me I got the shaft because now my insurance told me I had to pay the first 2 months of rental for the amount of $105.00 for January and for Febuary .
Being as I paid a deductable for this unit in June of 2005 I do not feel that I should have to pay this amount being as they stopped paying and billing for the rental in April and sent me a letter that I now owned the cpap machine.
When I asked for a different mask I had to fight with Apria, when I needed some filters I had to call apria and never get a return phone call.
I know why people are upset, because DME's have you by the """"hairs

Are you saying you had a good experience or a bad one? I can't really tell from your post. It sounds like you had a good experienece with them. 250 bucks copay to own the machine is pretty nice deal to be sure. Especially since you said you haven't had any problems with it. That's great!
I am like you I can't remember what I did yesterday
I didn't say that I paid a copay of $10.53 every month besides the deductible. Apria sucks
Now I am starting to sound like all the winners NO winning!

This sounds suspiciously similar to my experience with Medco by Mail prescriptions. They mailed me 3 prescriptions, but the 4th was missing. I thought that the physician's office may have not gotten the 4th prescription faxed properly, which was no big deal. This was my first experience with them so I thought that I would just refill the crucial missing one at my usual pharmacy this time.
I could not, because it was registered as having been filled. Medco said that they had not received the scrip. I had to call my doctor on the weekend to phone in a new scrip. My doc was upset with Medco (NOT for the first time) and had a numbered receipt from Medco that they HAD received the faxed scrip.
Medco said it was lost in the mail.
By this time, I was over the time to keep at the dosage prescribed. Thankfully, because of a long long relationship in a small town, the pharmacist gave me a few pills from the next scrip as he knew I would have one called in ASAP. I would have had to start all over at a low dosage and feel crummy, while also at risk AGAIN when starting this drug for a life-threatening side effect.
And now they are saying I did not pay them for the 3 scrips received and for the missing drug....which was set up on auto-payment....
