CPAPs were never meant to be sold on the internet. Manufacturers should discontinue seling them to online retailers.

I wonder if people would still hang out on the forum and give advice, etc., if there weren't Wal-Mart pricing here?

It's not the pricing, it's the people who actually want to be informed and also inform others, If we share, theres no reason to re-invent the wheel every day, and maybe some prople won't be driving the road with square ones, just because no one told them the round ones rolled better. All Johnny does is supply the bandwith, software and try to keep the peace, whitch lately has been a problem. It's good for business, but it's more mportant about being a good neighbor. You seem to miss that idea. Jim

Assuming that there was a sponsor for the forum......"YES". Somehow, I just can't envision the big manufacturers hosting forums of their own.....and the two or three others that exist are just not all that "new-user friendly".
There's a vacuum of information when it comes to the therapy givers (DMEs and medical community) and people search the Internet for information.....they find the forums and start to be enlightened. Sooner or later, they find THIS one. It's the BEST! It's obvious......YOU'RE HERE! (probably searching for knowledge)

Alas, if Guest wasn't just trolling and searching on "DME" and actually read the OTHER posts on this forum, he would realize this forum is MOSTLY about helping fellow apnea sufferers, and "whining" threads like this, albeit an interesting diversion, are only a TINY bit of what goes on in this forum.

I'll help if I can. What city and state does your friend live in? I don't work in that field but I know there are a ton of programs out there and if I can find one I'll tell ya!
I'm not the friend but a user in metro Atlanta. Please send me a list of the many places I can get free or inexpensive equipment in my area. I don't have insurance and am retired. Well, for OSA my insurance was limited and has exhausted. I have 4 more years before medicare. I don't need a ton of them, just several of the free or cheap ones you mention. Please pick the lowest as it is out of pocket. Thanks. PS, you can post it here for all.

Automobiles should never be sold at auctions either. You should alway have to purchase from a dealer, even used like refurbished cpaps. Dealers can then make more $$. Good reasoning.

I will be awaiting the many discount DME's in my area.

(How do they seling them? Is that similiar to selling?)

One for travel and one for home, in case one breaks down you have a second one for back up.

I hope this helps Guest. NOT.

I resent that remark about Aussie equipment. I have a Frontier X5 power chair and it is the best chair I have ever had.

I live in Wisconsin.
