ladytonya, you've hit on an excellent idea. Just ignore the guest posts and stop complaining about them and wondering why they don't register. That's THEIR prerogative.

Well, then logically, it would also be ladytonya's perogative, or anyone's perogative, to:

1. Keep complaining about guests.

2. Start attacking guests.

3. Comment on how the message board is being run.

4. Continue this thread ad nuaseum.

It's all within the rules and the practices of the message board and the moderator has not stopped it, so it's all good, right? Personally, I think it is silly threads like this, much more than guest policies or any other policies, that cause people to leave otherwise good messaqe boards. This thread has done nothing to further the purpose of the board, which is to educate people about CPAP and Apnea.

WTF! I have NEVER attacked ANYONE on this or any other board! Believe me. If I attacked you, you'd know it! I may be continuing this thread, but that is only because I think it's an important topic of conversation that should be debated. BTW, if you look back to the beginning, I didn't start this thread. I'm simply providing constructive comments on what I feel is an important topic to the health of this or any internet message board. This particular thread may not be about cpap therapy, OSA, etc., but it is a subject that could help further the purpose of this board and it is definitely not "silly" nor is it unnecessary or any other label you might try to put on it. I wholeheartedly stand by my opinion, but I do also realize that it is just my opinion. Last time I checked, I live in America. You know, free speech and all that jazz? Live and learn!

I personally think hand guns, 2nd-born sons, and guests should be registered.

My older brother suggested I take my gun out of my holster before signing up here. Okay guys, where do I sign up this time?

Yet another excellent idea, though this time around she has inadvertently defended a guest's right to post by citing the first amendment. Ladytonya sees it both ways. (As is her prerogative.)

This is why I don't post as a guest, this is one example I remember well

And, who might you be??? Besides an unregistered "Guest"......

You could probably get an idea by doing a little (or a LOT of) reading on this forum.

Den
I know when I read that response I took it to be very snide and rude and I felt very bad for the initial poster for being treated like that. Just take this perspective for what it's worth. I'm not trying to be mean, just to give the opinion of one guest who has been afraid to post for just that reason.

Before you draw too many conclusions, you might want to read the following thread from about 2 months ago:

viewtopic.php?p=79925

PLEASE READ Johnny's post (last one before he locked the thread) about people using the CPAPTalk community for do "research". Also, the person that posted that thread WAS "registered" (talerez). SO, when somebody guest posts as "Research_Guy" (you can't PM a "guest") and asks for information that is all over this forum, it just kind of jumps out at you as REAL suspicious. If you'll also notice, I wasn't the first one to post a response to "talerez". I may not have worded my first post to Research_Guy in a manner YOU thought was appropriate, but it DID get his attention and we DID have a more cordial exchange after he got a little more specific about what type of information he was looking for. ALSO, please read my LAST post to him.
As far as your excuse that you're "....afraid to post for just that reason"......that sounds kind of lame to me. You ARE posting.....HAVE BEEN posting.....and I have NO idea why you would be afraid of ME??? (or anybody else here)

For what it's worth, I DON'T EVEN NEED TO BE HERE!!! My therapy has been working successfully for over a year. I've never posted a question on this forum concerning ANYTHING about MY therapy.....no pressure problems, no mask problems, no rainout....nothing..... (that I couldn't figure out for myself)
I'm here because I've enjoyed the time I've shared with the GREAT people who also share this forum. I WANTED TO HELP NEW USERS!!! I'm far from being an "expert" on the various intricacies of this therapy and the different machines, masks, etc......but I DO know what has worked for me. And, if I can relate that to someone else or encourage them not to give up, then I've felt good about that.
If you want to read back through my posts, you'll see that I've been a strong proponent of "Guest" posting. But, some things make me "suspicious" and some things make me "cranky".....and if you read enough on this forum, you'll find there have been a lot of others that have been the same way. There have been a number of "knock-down drag-out" battles on some of these threads. If you thought I was snide, rude or mean.....you ain't seen nothin'!

In any case, I hope you stick around and become a contributing part of this forum. I've put in a year here.....maybe it's my time to go..... Maybe you can take my place.

Best wishes,

Den

Relax. Take a deep breath. Bear in mind this is just a message board on the internet. Not worth getting worked up over. Maybe a little vacation is in order.

For anyone who's interested, I just infiltrated the underground world of "guests". A very interesting world of dark shadows and secrets. I don't recommend others try that.

Yup... time to lighten up a bit...

Maybe not for yourself, but you are needed here by the rest of us!!!

Don't let the fact that one guy keeps dogging you prevent you from continuing to offer your helpful insights. He's a big doofus. You must have disagreed with him somewhere along the way or (horror of horrors) CORRECTED him. Some people can't handle that as maturely as others.

I, too, am a strong proponent of "Guest" posting. We have to take the good with the bad. Thankfully, the 'bad' is the vast minority.

Post away, Den!

By the way, don't even think about disagreeing with me or correcting me, or I'll beat you senseless.

Just so we're clear.

Den,

You are very much adored and wanted on this site. Don't ever think of leaving or you will be hunted down like a mad dog and shot on sight.

Love ya!

Thank you, all, for the kind words.

I'm probably already "senseless" and it wouldn't be that hard to hunt me down.

Take care and best wishes.
