England and the USA are good, but Canada doesn't have any nukes pointed at it.

I can sleep better at night knowing that...even if I have to tolerate 3-4 weeks of freezing cold and an overall accumulation of snow that goes up to my knees.

I live close to Toronto in Canada and I like it. The only reason I'd move to Europe is for the culture. Canadian culture is very close to United States culture... kind of like a mini-US but the people are nicer and friendlier. And we are much more "socialized".

OH yes, Austin is a beautiful city. Austin is a short drive to Dallas, Houston and San Antonio. There are many book shows in Austin. You would do well in your book business. Austin is also a high tech center. Your spouse should have no problems finding employment.
The winters are mild and summers are not too hot. All homes and businesses have central air conditioning.
We have many fine universities in Austin and the LBJ presidential library.

I'm sure you will do wellwherever you emigrate to.

Nice,friendly, here in the South

Post by Marie » Mon Jan 31, 2005 6:00 pm

Shall we start comparing all of the regions of the world???
I live in the deep south of the USA,and compared to some of the problems that OSA sufferers are having,it was a cakewalk for me.

Louisiana is supposed to be so backward and last on a lot of lists.
Here in Acadiana,we have the friendliest people around. I hope to visit Canada some day,Nova Scotia. Some of my ancestors were Acadians.

I live in a small town 14,000 population and the R/T came to my home to bring me the cpap and equipment, two days after the sleep study.
I had to call a couple of times for questions, and received a call back the same day.

I can also go to the office of the healthcare company, and have my cpap tested, and get other masks. One is located here in my town.

So,I feel lucky that I haven't had the problems of the others, and I really feel sorry for some of the people that are having such a hard time of it.

Good luck and great sleeping to everyone
Marie,loving it here in Louisiana

Hello Surly,
I couldn't avoid a spot to my land. The "other " side of UK. Wales is a country in itself. Lush green mountains and Vales. Quite sparse actually. Many Roman cities of ays long gone. Beautiful coastline. The spa town of Llandrindod Wells my home. Still quiet and lush. Charming. It has been called Eden by many visitors. To the south Cardiff , Bristol and Swansea. Chester to the north and Hereford to the east.
Our history is long and often bloody. Castles built by romans . War. the tyrany of the English. Freedom at last.
We have national health which sadly is not doing well in the rural areas. Shortages of GPs and dentists. Bringing in from other countrys at the mo.
Very sad for those who must do without or private pay . Many travel great distance for care.

But it is still my home which I love dearly.

Come visit the other side of UK, Wales

Len

wales!

Post by jean19540_0 » Wed Feb 02, 2005 6:33 am

hi len,
we have & its beautifull, in fact went to Llandudno for our honeymoon some 30yrs ago, we have been to south wales quite a few times also, + the west coast, borth. its going to be our main holiday next year also, northwest i think!
you are indeed, very lucky, also. we have a touring caravan, so get about alot, mainly in rural areas, but never had trouble getting medical treatment at all, i need VERY regular treatments, & you should try some of the countrys on the continant, its a nightmare, there again its all private. 4 years ago we went to southern spain & at that time i had massive problems with my legs, water was dripping out through the tissue at an alarming rate (was taken into hospital on arrival back in the uk). my gp set me up with loads of medication & dressings to take with me, but i used much more than antisepated, & had to see a doctor 4 times in that 2 weeks, + buy dressings, that he prescribed, it cost me very nearly £200.00, a good chunk from your holiday money, yes?. that also makes me appresiate what we have back home, in the uk.
please rest asured, we will be coming back to wales, i love it jean

Thank You for most benevelant posts. I have still to choose country to emigrate. There are many opportunitity in all suggestion. My children are most precious to me. I desire much for them . I have very good position in India but desire greater opportunity for myself and family.
May I impose question. In United Kingdom and Canada and USA. What is the tarriff on personal earnings . Is medical benefit included or is this a premuim. What is this amount.

Many Blessing

Hello Surly,
Glad to see you are still with us. Taxes or tarriffs as you say depend on the amount that you earn in the US. The top rate is supposed to be about 30%. I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong. I wouldn't know because I don't earn that much . I manage to get my tax down to about 20% .

We must pay for health insurance if we want it. It is very expensive. If you cannot get an employeer sponsored plan it is unaffordable . Canada and United Kingdom have a social medicine scheme structured on ability to pay scheme. I dont know the details of their tax system.

I'm sure those in Uk will ring in as they wake.

LOL that certainly is funny ultrasinoX.
Surly it is a good lesson . It shows that we may make light of our elected officials without fear of being thrown in prison.

In the news today . You will be thrown in prison for criticising the government in Nepal
