The Orange shows you are using a forged version of the product. The real version doesn't do that. You should search before posting first, there are a ton of postings about the questionably of this product.

Forged version of SoClean or forged version of the mask?Krelvin wrote:The Orange shows you are using a forged version of the product. The real version doesn't do that. You should search before posting first, there are a ton of postings about the questionably of this product.
Huskers, thanks for info. Is this happening to you?
More info would be appreciated. Pictures of old and new mask parts would be nice. How long have you been using the SoClean on that mask? What model of mask do you have? What model of SoClean do you have?

Re: Soclean 2
There are other very long threads on this waste of peoples money.... but actually what I said was a bit of a joke, kind of what SoClean is itself. The fact is it generates ozone and that can damage and discolor plastic and silicone. Of course you will be hard to find the word Ozone on any of their literature, they prefer to refer to it as "activated oxygen"... More of their nonsense...
Bonus Question: Can you find ANY CPAP manufacturer that recommends the use of SoClean?
You should see some updated reviews of long time users of the product... http://www.amazon.com/review/R1280RKLEB ... ID=3760901
Sounds a bit like your discoloration....
BTW... don't you think it strange the CPAP.com (Our sponsor) which sells all things CPAP related doesn't sell these units? Wonder why. Also, insurance companies don't cover it either, despite the fact they cover other CPAP components like masks, filters, hoses, replacement mask parts, hell they will even cover the cost of a replacement CPAP storage bag if you have decent insurance.
And despite the the word clean in the name, it doesn't clean anything. If anything assuming you actually believe what it does actually works, it disinfects... not cleans.
That means you need to clean your mask of oil and grime that came off of your face before it builds up using the simple cleaning instructions provided by the MFG of the CPAP masks. CPAP mask manufacturers don't promote the use of SoClean either.
All those bad germs you need to killl, the ones that came from ... you? You don't share your mask with someone else do you? Perhaps the cleaning lady licks it when you are not looking.
O3 is nothing more than Ozone... Look it up.What is Activated Oxygen?
Activated oxygen is formed when a third atom of oxygen (O) is added to the molecular oxygen we breathe (O2) forming a new molecule (O3). This new molecule of activated oxygen (also known as ozone) has the amazing ability to destroy organisms such as bacteria and viruses through oxidation. While activated oxygen is very powerful, it also has a very short life cycle. After it’s generated, it reverts back into the oxygen we breathe in about 2 hours.
Gee that sounds like something I want to put into something I am going to be breathing with... You should also ask Better Rest Solutions about what damage their product can do to these parts. They will say it can damage inferior-grade silicone parts. Do you think a manufacturer of a CPAP machine that is supposed to last 5 years (more than 18,000 hours) or so does that? Use inferior-grade parts?O3 is ozone - a molecule that contains 3 oxygen atoms. It is highly reactive, corrosive. In the upper atmosphere, where it is naturally produced, it absorbs ultraviolet radiation, protecting life on earth from severe UV damage. It is also a component of air pollution that is very hard on the lungs, can make your eyes burn, etc.

Re: Soclean 2
Considering I've only had cpap since November I have had 4 sinuses infections. The only month I did not have one was in February, which was the first month had the soclean. I did notice the discoloration within probably 3 weeks...So I started going every other day with soap and hot water again, in the last couple of weeks. Guess what? I got sick again! Just went to the Dr on Saturday.

it's a typical thing with people that don't know any better to blame the cpap for *everything* that happens to them...huskers4life11 wrote:Considering I've only had cpap since November I have had 4 sinuses infections. ... I got sick again! Just went to the Dr on Saturday.
unless someone is blowing bugs into your cpap, it's not going to make you sick.

You need to see a capable ENT, not a snake oil huckster.
Blaming the cpap for your problems is just counter-productive.
If you really want to quit, just quit, but don't encourage/support these charlatans by buying their garbage.
If you are sincerely interested in your health, you will seek REAL HELP, not foolishness.

What else is making me sick than? I've rarely got sick my whole life. But their is no way it could be the cpap. Just that I have been sick 4 out of the 5 months I have had it

it's easy to blame 'the new thing". rinse out the water tank, make sure your filters are replaced on time, (every six months or more often if you're in a dusty environment) and wipe your mask off so it fits better.huskers4life11 wrote:What else is making me sick than? I get less colds and sinus infections since I started cpap, since it's filtering the air part of the time.

Re: Soclean 2
It might be related to the CPAP, but it's not as likely as you might think.
The CPAP isn't a good environment for germs to grow. There's nothing much for the germs to feed on. A lot of people think because it's wet, that germs will grow, but even in a wet environment, germs still need some form of food.
Also, the CPAP machine doesn't get exposed that much to "new" germs. No one else is using your CPAP, so you're not going to get germs from someone else through the CPAP. Any germs on the CPAP probably came from you and probably won't hurt you.
Airborne germs do get picked up by the CPAP, but if they're in the air, you're breathing them already.
The CPAP doesn't "push" germs into you the way some people think it does. It just lets you breathe normally.
What mask do you have? We may be able to give you some cleaning hints.
If you want to get your mask really clean, clean it like you normally do, but also use the Control III disinfectant occasionally. You can buy it from our host, cpap.com and other places online. Read the instructions before using it, and dilute it properly.
You might also experiment with your humidity settings. Sometimes more is better, sometimes, less is better.

why don't you just take the easy route and go ahead and blame the 'new thing', and ignore what other things in your life (that of course, I have no way of knowing anything about) that could be causing the trouble....huskers4life11 wrote:I already do all those things.
