I actually dreamed I was wearing this Hybrid mask last night on a cot by the ocean. The ocean water splashed on me and I awoke to find the splash was nothing more than air blowing in my face and eyes from my leaky Resmed Full Face

I messed around for about an hour or so and finally got the hang of it and I hooked it up and it was noisy as Mike had said, and it turned out I chose too small of a nasal pillow. I went to the larger one and that stopped all of the leaks. I am running at 13 and it felt really good and being able to take a breath through my mouth was great! So far I think it is cool, but time will tell and I will keep the forum informed. I will know more tomorrow after I check my data to see if anything improved

Rascal, do you have any update?

New Hybrid Mask reply to bitfoggy

I don't have a lot to tell you as somehow I managed to take the mask off while sleeping but I can tell you this, the mask is real comfortable. This was my first attempt with nasal pillows and they were great. I put the mask on at 10:00 pm and I woke at 2:30 AM with my mask off to the side. I was so sleepy at that point I took the mask off and went back to sleep. I do think that I had a good sleep up until 2:30. I feel a lot better today but I should have put the mask back on. That won't happen again. If I have a successful night tonight, I will certainly post the info.

The bottom line is I feel this is going to be the mask that solves a lot of issues. Also if you are a mouth breather, no problem at all breathing through the mouth.

Last week I had to go for a retitration and I got to use this mask. I have a script for it but it is hard to fill because everyone is sold out or never heard of it. It just came out a week ago. I can see why it is creating so much buzz already because it was so comfortable. It has pillows like the Breeze but much softer and you can mouth breath if you want. Something really great about the pillows is that I could adjust them to several hights and that was good for a perfect seal.
I used the small mouth cushion and the middle pillow. You have many choices because it comes ith 3 pillow sizes and 3 cushions, too. It was very quiet and I had no leaks and my pressure is 16c.
I wanted to take it home but he tech said they only had 4 and they fight over them because everyone wants to use it. So I am waiting for my mask when someone gets it in stock.

The Nasal-Aire II was my first mask and I loved it but switched to the Swift to try it and would have gone to the Breeze to try if I had not stumbled accross this Hybrid. I think this mask is ideal because so many of us use chin straps or tape. I have been taping my mouth shut for over a year and it's no fun. I can't stand full face masks because their painful and leak in my eyes. This Hybrid was the best mask I ever tried. I can't wait to get it.

Well based on all this conversation, and the fact that my DME pretty much told me that I am on my own when it comes to any equiptment other then the original stuff I was tested on, I broke down and ordered this mask from cpap.com. I hope it is everything that it says it is

Just another wonderful day in the neighborhood

I'm about three and a half weeks from getting my Hybrid. The wife and I both get our 6 month free renewal minus co payment of 25.00 each. The only reason I'm waiting is that I'm cheap.
The wife seems happy with her NasalAir II set up ,but will be asking for the new 6 size set-up now available. Since she knows her size, we might be donating the other 5 cannulas to Miss Minerva or (or whoever) if she is collecting donations for the board to try before we buy.I'm waiting to see if that's something that sounds like a good idea to everyone. It sure sounded like a good idea to me. Seems we could clean the stuff as good as a sleep study center once we learned the procedure.

On 6/1/06, I went to the sleep clinic to try on masks for my second sleep study on Sunday night. I found the ResMed Ultra Mirage Full Face the most comfortable of the full face masks and was going to use it for my second sleep study. I copied the info from the internet about the Hybrid Mask and showed it to them. They had never heard of it, but said they would try to get one in by Sunday night for me to try, but couldn't promise it would be there in time.

Well, 10 days back I had my second sleep study and they did get a Hybrid Mask in for me to try and keep if I liked it. I had a hard time falling to sleep just like the first time, but it wasn't because of the mask. They wanted me to go to bed at 10:00 pm and I usually stay up until 1:00 am or so. Once I fell asleep about 1:00 am I slept through the rest of the night without any problems. The mask was comfortable and sealed well. I got my machine late last week and I have been using the Hybrid mask with it. The good experience has continued. People had warned me that the first week is the most difficult to adjust but I'm doing good. Don't know if it is due to the Hybrid mask or because I'm more tolerant to CPAP.

I justed started my treatment on Monday, July 3, so including my second sleep study on Sunday night I have three nights experience with the Hybrid Mask. The first two nights were great. Last night I was more restless and woke up several times and needed to adjust my mask. Since I have no previous experience I have nothing to compare the Hybrid Mask to, but so far I am please with it. I do need a full face mask and being claustrophobic I find the Hybrid something I can deal with on my face.

If you just started CPAP and your first few nights were great, that is a very good sign because the fist few days are the hardest. Breathing against CPAP is not easy and the fact that you can mouth breathe if you want (we all start out as mouth breathers) make it easy. You have already over come the worst of it. As a rule, Full Face masks leak and the machines compensate for it. The fact that everyone is able to get a seal on this mask and have so many obtions on sizes makes it a winner. The fact that the pillows are as comfortable as the Aure or more so also makes this mask a winner. I'm going to order one myself. I hope to overcome the need for a painfull chinstrap once and for all.
One thing I could never stand is to not be able to put my eyeglasses on when I awake. When I was in the hospital, it was pure hell because I need my glasses to get out of bed. To have all the face freedom of a nasal mask and be able to mouth breathe if I so desire sold me.

The hybrid might be a great mask. But I find the growing number of guests, and new people etc. suddenly posting about it suspicious....

Don't remember that happening with the Aura of the CL2.

I hope I'm wrong.

I have had a little of the same skepticism but it is an exciting idea and lots of folks struggle with mouth leaks and claustrophobia so I am taking the high road and attributing it to real curiosity and interest in such a new innovative design.

..Never fear, mine is on the local UPS truck. It will be there when I get home. I have already tried the other two full-face masks with not-so good results:

UMFF - Too much pressure on my lower teeth/jaw, resulting in pain.

HC431 - Much better than the UMFF. However, I still have leak and itch
problems with it.

Hybrid - I'll let you know tomorrow...

you are probably the one tying up the name,I have done this myself with other stuff on the computer.
You could re-regdister and change the name just a little.....

I don't mean to offend anyone, however, this topic seems to have wandered from it's original intent.

Could we please keep the extranious items to a minimum so others will not have to wade through a lot of off-topic posts to get specific info about the Hybrid Mask.

Possibly starting another thread will best serve these other areas of discussion and interest.

Best,
