For some people, it seems to help. For people in my family, it does not. My mom, with a pressure of 10, still managed to stop breathing for over a minute, and had clusters of events over 30 seconds, all while sleeping in a recliner. She can't sleep in a bed due to pain issues. She now uses an auto machine set for 10-15.

When I fall asleep watching tv in a recliner, I snort myself awake, and if anybody is in the room, I am told to go to bed and stop disturbing everybody. I do not wake myself up snoring when I am in bed. My brother is also well known for falling asleep sitting up, and snoring/snorting loudly.

You would need to do a test with an oximeter and/or a full data cpap machine set at lower than normal settings to see if you have okay results while sleeping in a recliner. Don't assume that since some people do better, that it means you will.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?
