Maybe its just me

Post by NewToBiPap » Tue Feb 03, 2015 2:29 pm

So I have been sleeping with this machine since Dec. 11th. At first it was a little strange and took a little bit of time to get use to it. Right away though I felt more awake and energized. Lately I have been waking up tired still and yawning through the day. Anyone else experience something similar?

Need more information.

How many hours are you getting?
Are you being woken by an alarm clock?
Are you having mask leaks?
What is your AHI?
....
Current Settings PS 4.0 over 10.6-18.0 (cmH2O) - Resmed S9 VPAP Auto w/h5i Humidifier - Quattro Air FFM

On average I am getting between 6-7 hours. I don't get woken up by an alarm and I have a few mask leaks depending on how I am positioned. I have to get the info off of the card and see if the leakage is high. My AHI has been I believe on average under .70.

Please download SleepyHead and pull data from your machine's card and publish the details (charts and stats) of your typical day.

Are you still using the original cushion for the F10?
Although some folks have gotten more than a month's use out of a full face cushion, I am not that lucky.
Medicare and most insurance assumes 30 days per full face cushion. Your mileage may vary.

I've read this from a number of people. I think it's pretty common. I'm not sure why it happens - it may be that the sleep you get on the machine is so much better than what you were getting before that you notice it immediately after starting to use the machine. However, for most of us, 6 to 7 hours of sleep per night isn't really enough. Maybe you just need more sleep. You didn't notice it before you started using the machine because the quality of your sleep was so bad that you could have slept 23 hours a day and still been tired. This is just a guess on my part.

It could also be leak issues, RERAs, or any of a dozen other reasons. You've come to the right place to figure it out. It isn't unusual to hit a plateau after the initial euphoria of actually getting enough oxygen while you are asleep wears off.

I am still using it and i have to call my medical equipment provider about getting replacements for what's needed. That may be the cause of it as well.

You are probably right as well because 6- 7 hours isn't a lot of sleep. Its just something I got use to over the years. Since I started using this machine the sleep has been like a blessing. The kind of sleep I use to get when I was a lot younger. Well i will be replacing what needs to be replaced and take it one day at a time.

I'm happy we have a forum like this to go to and get such useful information from all of you nice people.

I copied this from sleepyhead...

The last time you used your ResMed VPAP STAMER...
was last night (on Monday, February 02, 2015)
You had an AHI of 0.27, which is considered pretty darn good
You machine was on for 7 hours, 18 minutes and 2 seconds.
You had no major mask leaks (maximum was 9.60 L/min).
Your machine blasted you with a constant 8-12 cmH2O of air.

No, need something like in this post: viewtopic.php?p=963296#p963296. It doesn't have to be "0.0", of course, but it should have many more details: flow limitations, snoring, leak rate, etc.

NewtoBiPAP, great job. Please ignore Tan who has the small dog syndrome and needs to bark.

That is fantastic! I have been on CPAP since 2008 and while I have gotten less than 1 AHI, I have never seen that smilie face. Amazing job of adapting to this and making it work in such a short time.

Well, sadly, some people even here have become obsessed with low AHI (and compliance) -- a sin that is usually attributed to many sleep doctors, which the same people like to bash -- and those same people do just the same and prefer to ignore obvious symptoms that CPAP therapy is not optimal but rather degenerate in a pitiful attempt to insult

Huh?

A person with 17 posts called "newtoCPAP" gets a score of 0.27, and you need to post your 0.00? Who is obsessed with low AHI?

You must be kidding. That was my old post that I remember posting with picture. "0.0" is irrelevant, I only showed a sample of picture I wanted to see from OP. That is all.
