New Zeo Sleep Monitor for Bedside compatible with SleepyHead
Woodinblack has just posted a beta version of a Zeo Sleep Monitor for Bedside units. I've been working with it for a while and I think it's very good. It is based on the 30 sec hypnogram rather than the 5 min hypnogram of the old Zeo, so it offers a little more detail. It also offers a number of views presenting historical statistical data in a variety of selectable ways. The monitor is designed for both windows and mac applications and I have tested it on Win 7. The author states it will display both encrypted and decrypted Zeosleep.dat file data, although I have only used it with decrypted.

Re: New Zeo Sleep Monitor for Bedside Units
Question for you? Do you have to buy new headbands or can you use the one that comes with it?
Interesting...

Re: New Zeo Sleep Monitor for Bedside Units
If you have a bedside unit, the headband that came with it will work unless it has been damaged or the sensors pads are worn out. If the sensor pads are worn out, there are a couple of suggestions on the web for DIY replacement.Cowboy Casey wrote:Question for you? Note that this viewer is not intended to work with Zeo mobile units.

Re: New Zeo Sleep Monitor for Bedside Units
Thanks Jay, I found one of the bedside units on amazon But I read the "headband" may have to be replaced and I was wondering if it was worth it.... Thanks, I will do some research..

Re: New Zeo Sleep Monitor for Bedside Units
Yes, it can be a little confusing. The "headband", if you will, is actually two pieces. A hard plastic piece (transmitter) which contains a rechargeable battery and the electronics to transmit data to the bedside unit and a soft elastic head band which has snaps with which to connect to the transmitter and cloth sensors with which pick up the signals from the forehead.
When Zeo was a going concern, replacing the headband usually meant just replacing the soft part which included the sensors. Over time (3 months plus), the cloth sensors begin to loose the ability to pickup the brainwaves from the forehead. Replacement headbands (just the soft part with sensors) were relatively inexpensive, IIRC, about $10 apiece and, for most people, lasted far longer than the 90 days recommended by Zeo. Mine, for example, always last at least 6 months before I replace them.
The typical life of the transmitter is unknown. I've had mine since 2011 and it's still working fine. Eventually, I suppose, the battery will loose the ability to recharge and I'm not sure it could be replaced. So far, I've not heard of anyone replacing one.

In case you missed it the first time around. This viewer works great! It's a test build, but pretty full featured. If you have a bedside unit, you should try it. It will read both encrypted and decrypted data so you don't have to fool with Bedside firmware updates and you don't need Java!Jay Aitchsee wrote:Woodinblack has just posted a beta version of a Zeo Sleep Monitor for Bedside units. For wilsonintexas:
After installing the viewer, go to file > export records > select CSV and date range, if desired > export > designate a location and file name for the exported file and save. The saved file will be in nearly the same format as that originally exported by the Zeo website.
(EDIT) I see you got this, but I'll leave it in case anybody else is interested.

Re: New Zeo Sleep Monitor for Bedside Units
I just uploaded that version yesterday and it works great. (I upgraded my firmware to have unencrypted files..... but that is ok)
I
problem with the csv file, it crashes sleepyhead...upgraded it to veersion (0.9.6) and it still crashes.. I think it is the 30 second data vs the 5 minute data........
I sent a pm to the sleepy head author on another forum to see if he can get it in his que to update, but have not heard back.
It would be really nice to upload my zeo data, 02, and machine data all at once...... sleepy head use to be do it, but the change is not his fault.

0.9.6 is old, and unsupported.wilsonintexas wrote:with the csv file, it crashes sleepyhead...upgraded it to veersion (0.9.6) and it still crashes.. I think it is the 30 second data vs the 5 minute data........
try 0.9.8-1 or better.

Re: New Zeo Sleep Monitor for Bedside Units
Yeah, I followed up on your post on the other site. I haven't gone back and checked to see if SleepyHead chokes on the original CSV, now. I've only been using Sleepyhead (9.6) for a little while since my equipment wasn't compatible and I've gone completely to this new viewer. I know it chokes on it this CSV output. I'm sure SleepyHead is looking for the 5 min hypnogram and when it doesn't find it, it crashes.wilsonintexas wrote:It would be really nice to upload my zeo data, 02, and machine data all at once...... sleepy head use to be do it, but the change is not his fault.
It would seem it would be fairly simple to use the 30 sec hypnogram instead of the 5 minute - just more data points, but then, I'm not a programmer. It would be nice if Mark could work it in, but I know he is busy and I don't know how many are still using their Zeo. As I mentioned on the other site, I did send him samples of the old and new CSV files so he could take a look. I'm like you, I think it would be great if he could do it.
When Woody was working on his viewer, I asked if he could provide a CSV output to match the original in the hope Mark could incorporate it into SleepyHead. I think he came pretty close. At the same time, I sent Woody a SleepyHead CSV to see if he could incorporate it into the viewer. I know he's working on being able to import data to be able to display along with the hypnogram, but I'm not sure where he's at with that. One thing though, his viewer is really great compared to what we had.

just upgraded sleepyhead to 0.9.8.1 and same result, sleepyhead does not like the 30 second data in the csv file.... I like the look of 9.8.1

I thought that this was a test version and that bugs could only br reported by the beta group.........
(I am half serious) If I need to submit a bug report, where or how should I do it?
