Has anyone ever used this medicine ? It was give to me because I'm so sleepy all day, and I tried it and it just made me feel really tense and kinda grumpy......just wondered if anyone used it and if it helped. I'm about ready to give it another try.

I'm taking Provigil, which is essentially the same. I've found it quite helpful. One note, though, is that an 'off-label' use is for ADD/ADHD, and it is a stimulant. The anxiousness is a pretty common side effect. In some people kit fades as they become acclimated to taking it, in others it's a decision of whether the side effects are worth not falling asleep at work or behind the wheel of a car. Stick with it for two weeks and see if it gets better.

Good luck!

Hi Jules72,

I have never used Nuvigil but several years ago was on Ritalin by itself. Unfortunately, it caused severe adverse side effects which is a whole other post.

If the drug is already making you feel tense and grumpy, I would tread very carefully with this med as in my opinion, that is a warning sign. Perhaps resume at a lower dose for a long period and carefully monitor the effects.

I know it is a catch twenty two situation because feeling sleepy stinks to high heaven and I definitely understand the desire to alleviate the situation. Just be careful.

I take it. It takes the edge off of some of my sleepiness (which for me is substantially worse when I'm on xPAP therapy). I've only been on it for a matter of weeks, but I've read that some of those "stimulating" side effects you mentioned will subside.

Have used Provigil on and off. I think maybe Nuvigil was just made to offset the patent end of Provigil. I use 100 mg of Provigil sometimes when I just can't get going in the morning any other way. It works. Tradeoff is that it does make me tense/anxious/cranky.

Well the last couple of day I have taken a 1/4 of a pill and it's helped a little with very little jitters..
