ThirdOutOfFive, you've REALLY got to get out a bit more often. After all, even IOWA recognizes just how foreign it can be. Here's a small sampling of their websites, designed to help foreigners such as you and me deal with them:

Besides, you might find yourself feeling like a Stranger in A Strange Land:

Your right, I hear Iowa is rampant with the dangerous night dwelling Corn Husk Spider. Unfortunately that variety has extremely poor eyesight and can easily mistake a dangling Cpap hose for a Corn Husk. Since your probably not camping out in the corn fields you should be fine..

There are FAR worse crawlies out there than "black widow spiders"...

I'm just' sayin'...

OK, guys. I am well chastened for calling Iowa a foreign land.

Actually, we are in Cedar Rapids, visiting our son and his family. Just spent a wonderful day with our 3 yr. old grandson and 15 month old granddaughter.

I just have had enough experience with people from either coast having no idea there is a difference between Iowa & Ohio, or thinking that the whole midwest is populated with hillbillies. I actually had one New Yorker tell me that he was astonished that he could understand every word I said. . .

I know Iowa is a great place. But, obviously you don't know about the dreaded "corn tassel ear worm," that burrows into your brain and makes you halucinate spiders in your PAPpy. Oh, wait! That's how this whole thing got started!

I was told to always look through a didgeridoo because black widows like to crawl into places like that. Mine has too many curves though, can't see all the way through.

an itchy tip of my nose is my main bugbear (pun intended) since I started on CPAP 6 weeks ago. I try to ignore it but I have to gingerly reach under the FFM to scratch it several times a night. should I also wear gloves as I do this? or just spray insecticide in there first? (don't try this at home kiddies).
you can only worry about so many things. (but its the venemous snakes you gotta watch out for hereabouts)

I worry about bugs crawling in there too I always take a Kleenex stuff it in the mask because I only use a nose mask and that will keep anything from: in there

Definitely don't want one of these in my mask either.

Or anywhere near me for that matter.

Earwig
IF YOU ARE OVERLY SQUEAMISH, DON'T READ THIS: An oldie thread but a scary one. Sorry Pugsy, I had to do it: Yup, earwigs (or pincher bugs, as my kids used to call them). I've never heard of an earwig in a CPAP mask or machine, but it's certainly possible. I've never heard of one biting anybody however they are very sneaky and unpleasant to find in the bathroom or other wet places. They are known to get into one's ears, hence the name - apparently they love earwax and try to eat it. You have to go to an ENT right away to get it out, or else it sets up house, has babies, throws rowdy parties etc. YES, I always stuff any CPAP openings with paper towels or Kleenex when drying things out.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
