Was That A Spider?

Post by Kody » Fri Sep 23, 2011 12:50 pm

Last night was the first night I had a very hard time trying to sleep wearing my Quattro Full Fask Mask. For some reason I was very stuffy and felt like I couldn't breathe right. So I took it off to see if I could get my breathing better. Of course I fell asleep and an hour later, woke up and put my Mask back on in the dark. Still having a hard time going back to sleep I thought I felt something funny on the bridge of my nose, kind of a tickle.

Then I thought Wow, that wouldn't be cool if when I fell asleep a Black Widow Spider crawled into my Mask and then I put it on in the dark without knowing it. Then I thought the chances of that would be very slim of course. Still trying to go back to sleep I thought, well "if" a Black Widow Spider did crawl into my Mask he would get mad and panic with all the air blowing around and no where to escape. Trying to disregard all this nonsense I then thought, well he would only have one place to try to escape.... my nose?..... .... With that I threw off the Mask, jumped out of bed and turned the lights on! After a thorough inspection of the Mask showing no evidence of any such creature to my satisfaction, I put it back on and finally went to sleep.

Has anyone else had crazy thoughts trying to go to sleep while using your machine?

OMG don't anyone mention the creepy crawlies thread. Kody won't get any sleep at all.

Let me go find it. It's getting close to Halloween.. need some good creepy buggy stories.

To answer your question Kody. Sometimes the critters are real. Not in our imagination.
I know...not what you expected to hear.

Hi, Kody,
One of the features of this CPAP treatment is the water for humidity. We have these Tiny black ants, sometimes called sugar ants, not 1/16 inch long. The frau was the lucky one to find out that, lo and behold, the ants will seek out and find the water if left in the humidifier! Not as threatening as a spider, but disgusting all the same, is waking up finding ants crawling about the face. Pleasant dreams anyway

Okay, I couldn't pass up the chance since we have some new people here.

Warning...if you get squeamish....might not want to go here.. Starts out with "what are some of your worst cpap moments" and goes downhill after that. Most of us have read it a couple of times for laughs but it may gross someone out. 5 pages..

In Colorado we see these guys once in a while around the house.

Definitely don't want one of these in my mask either.

Or anywhere near me for that matter.

Thinking of quitting CPAP?

No problem, here's the first thing to do when you quit:

Advanced funeral planning. When you give up CPAP, you'll probably need it.

I have read that thread several times and every time I laugh so hard I cry so I can't see.
Every so often the bug thing comes up and someone will resurrect that thread for review.

I think it does good to laugh here. We get stuck in all this serious stuff so much it does a body good to have a good laugh every now and then.

Probably not a good thing for a bugaphobe to read but what the heck.

Nah. The spiders should eat the ants. No problem.

Um...I actually woke up one night, turned over, and had a spider crawl down my face. I hate spiders. I flew/levitated out of bed and ripped my mask off. I couldn't yell because that's hard to do with a mask on. I hate spiders. My poor husband woke up when I turned on the light. I hate spiders. I refused to go back to bed or turn off the light until he had located and killed the spider. I hate spiders. It took me awhile to go back to sleep due to the severe adrenaline rush.

Did I mention that I really hate spiders?

You want to have a sleepless night or two with your cpap, just do a search on the word "cockroach" or "cockroach in hose"
Look at the picture.

Thanks Pugsy for posting the old thread on this particular subject it was very entertaining.
My Hose now sports a stylish new cap when not in use, and I am the proud owner of a new very large Flash light just in case I feel like "inspecting" my Mask in the middle of the night.

WOW!! My worst night with PAPpy was last night after reading these strings!

Didn't help that I am on the road in a foreign land -- Iowa! Who knows what kind of giant bugs come out of all that corn?
