You mentioned thinning hair

Testosterone supplements will make that worse.

Typical male pattern baldness is accelerated if you take testosterone.

I would consider getting another test of T levels 3-6 months after previous test before deciding about TRT. It will also give you more time on cpap to see if your body is doing any better a few months down the road.

I did TRT with the gel, and I'm sorry I did. Other than getting my T number up to "normal" levels, I didn't notice any improvement in anything.

Some say the injections are more effective; I wouldn't know, but that is what I'd try if were to do TRT again. Which I won't.

Before TRT around 250, with TRT around 700-800. But I never felt more energy or sex drive etc on TRT. And my doctor thinks the TRT was inflammatory for my body, since I had high inflammation levels which came down dramatically when I stopped TRT.

Hormone production is just one of the things our bodies do when we're getting good sleep. Now that you're on cpap your body has a chance to normalize, but it can take some time.

Yes, there are different types of TRT but if you go the gel/cream route you get a prescription for gel. There aren't other drugs that you mix with it.

I will tell you one thing. There is no way in hell I would embark upon TRT unless and until I got a decisive diagnosis regarding whether my hypogonadism was primary or secondary hypogonadism. You have admitted you dont know whether that your hypogonadism is primary or secondary.

Knowing what type of hypogonadism you have is fundamental, its the basics. Nobody worth their salt embarks upon TRT until they have that decision.

Read up on the websites like Mayoclinic or WebMD or the NIH website. Those sites are written by MDs. They will all say the same thing it is important to know whether your low T is primary or secondary.

There is research out there that says that obstructive sleep apnea can be a cause of secondary hypogonadism. Depression can be another source of the secondary form of hypogonadism. I know this stuff because I have already been thru it and did the research, went to a bunch of doctors for it, asked a bunch of questions, had a ton of blood tests, had my pituitary gland imaged, did all sorts of stuff to rule out secondary from primary.

Have you seen a urologist and an endocrinologist? Low T can also be a sign of testicular cancer. Also if I were you I would have a sperm count done. There are other drugs that can be given to get your boys to produce more T naturally rather than taking T itself.

I have been on TRT for a long damn time (medically) , also took me a long time to fine tune my protocol and avoid complications. I can say I benefit nicely from it now, perhaps too nicely for a middle aged married man.

Ive taken the following for TRT:

1) Androgel...for me it was worthless. For some guys it works fine

2) Testim...for me it was worthless, like Androgel. For some guys Testim works fine.

3) Androgel 1.62%...for me this was worthless, exactly the same as the original Androgel. For some guys Androgel 1.62% works fine.

4) testosterone cypionate injections on a 14 to 12 day cycle. This worked for me and got my T levels up and it was OK, its also cheaper. You can also self inject, which I started doing after about four or five months. My doctor and his nurse taught me how to self inject into my upper quadriceps.

But I can tell you, the fact you are wanting to go on TRT without even knowing whether your low T is primary or secondary is kinda whacked, IMO. If its secondary, there might be something out there you can do besides TRT that will get your testosterone levels up without taking testosterone (maybe).

I honestly cannot imagine being 24 and even thinking of embarking on TRT, unless maybe I'd been in the military or something and been in combat and had an injury to my testicles. Or had a head injury that affected my pituitary gland and made me a secondary hypogonadal 24 year old.

When I was 24, I could get a raging hard on at the drop of a hat and I wanted to nail everything female within sight. You are kinda young to be seriously thinking of TRT. When I was 24, the only guys I knew that wanted to do testosterne were insecure guys that wanted to bulk up without lifting weights or doing the hard work. or guys playing serious sports and lifting weights and were under peer pressure from their fellow athlete buddies or even their coach to take anabolics to speed recovery from hard workouts.

Kinda strange, to be honest. Why are you posting about TRT on a sleep apnea forum anyway?
