John, just breathtaking!.My dear friend and next door neighbor simply adores butterflies, her home and even some of her clothing is filled with anything butterfly. I'm going to try and print out your painting, frame it and give it to her as a birthday gift which is next month, she'll love it! Hope that's not illegal??

Dori, I'll send you a PM about it. Normally, I would suggest not doing that, but for you I will help you do something to brighten her day!

John your paintings are great, I especially like the garden path one. It's great that you have found something you enjoy and the added bonus its benefical!

I enjoy doing redwork or hand embroidery, but for the past 12 months I've had no energy or drive to do anything but the essentials of life. Since starting my xpap therapy I've finally picked up the needle again.

When you've done a few more paintings can you please post them here?

I am impressed John, very good. One of my sisters is an artist and she started off using chalks also, she now is dabbling with sculpture and shes very good too. Me, I couldn't draw a straight line if I wanted to, but my hobby is quilting......... somehow the hobby has become a passion and is taking over my life
Kudos to you!
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

Bravo! Glad you feel up to your needlework once again.

I might. But I would not want to "wear out" the welcome!!

AVI123, I'm impressed. As you note her art is fairly impressionistic. But to be honest, since that's how I see the world (due to bad vision), I love it. I hope she finds it as rewarding as I do.

I love quilting. It is an old and honorable art. And don't put it down as "just quilting", since there are quilts hanging in the Smithsonian. Just enter "art quilts" into Google Images and be prepared to replace the fuse for your brain. It will blow a few circuits!!

My wife quilts. So, I understand about how it can become an obsession. I find myself going about my day and wondering how I would paint various scenes. Yup. I understand! All too well, in fact!

I weave baskets. Not so artistic but still decorative and functional. I have won a few blue ribbons at the state fair.

I hope you don't mind if I stroll down the Garden Path, sit on a bench and watch nature go by for awhile...
