CPAP Dishsoap

Post by xdman911 » Wed Aug 07, 2013 10:12 pm

I was on a mission to find that "mild" dishsoap that doesn't have any degreasers or moisturizers in it; it proved to be a difficult task. Then I came across the "one." Palmolive Baby (found in baby isle at walmart) It has no unnecessary ingredients and is hypoallergenic.

Just figured I would share this. What does everyone else use?

I use the Control II wipes on my mask daily and Palmolive Baby on all parts weekly.

Lots of us use Dawn (the basic blue variety).
But, there are many others who use a variety if products.
Personally, I can't imagine using a soap that doesn't "degrease" a CPAP item (mask and mask parts in particular).
My headgear and strap covers get thrown in with a load of laundry with "ALL" laundry soap.

I use Dawn. I want the degreasing effect.

I use dawn for the degrease effect that it has.

I can't find the old-fashioned "plain" Dawn anywhere. Everything seems to be the "Ultra" variety. Is this what all of you are using now?

Looks good! Must be very mild.

I use baby shampoo (someone once said it was least harmful) usually J&J or dollar store brand.

But I use it every day -- just go to sink, soap up the cushion swirl the whole thing (without headgear) around the filled basin for a few mins and then dry. Easy and clean.

When I do clean my Quattro cushion..which is not too often...I use liquid antibacterial hand soap. On a daily basis I use baby wipes. My cushions last a long time.

I have used "sensitive" baby wipes also, but a close reading of the ingredients reveals lanolin as being present-and I'm trying to eliminate any oils to get a better seal. Not sure how big a problem this is.

Old Dude---this comment just made it dawn on me: What do you do each night with your face before you put the mask on???

Maybe some of your leak problems have to do with facial care rather than mask care.

I have been using Method dish soap with no fragrance or dyes for good effect.
I think it's been discontinued, so when it's gone, I have Dawn Pure essentials to use.
It is hypoallergenic, but has a mild fragrance (how does that work?)
I still have the All Free and Clear that I bought for the Elan cushions, so that might work too.
As always, white vinegar, baking soda, and distilled water are on hand, should I need them.
(Along with my Control II for after I have an illness.)

Ivory clear liquid soap in pump bottle. Wash mask cushion and pillows every day. Rinse well, then soak in vinegar and water for a few minutes. By doing this daily, the seal has greatly improved. Could be just me, but I feel like daily washing is what works well.

Besides using Dawn I wash my face good every night before I go to bed to remove any facial oils.
