Since confirming that yes I snore then that I also stop regularly as the main reason of my poor nights sleep I started to do a bit of research as to what is out there to help
I found that this site answered a lot of questions that I had I. Regarded to the testing and treatments of OSA and most of all what to ask my gp about

Hi Big fella and welcome. I'm not familiar with '6 week monitored' trials. Can you fill me in what that is and why?

Thanks.

The sleep centre that I was referred to does two types of test at home or in the lab then from there I suppose if it is a straight forward case of OSA then you go for a cpap trial for six weeks you go in they fit you with a mask and do some testing there in the office with a few base line settings then they send you home with a auto machine and you go in every week for the six weeks with the machine to talk over how your going they down load the info of the machine and do the required adjustments at the end of it you take there machine back and get your own or hire one from them and they transfer all the figures over to the new machine
It sort of makes sense to me as from what I have read of the one night study's to have a longer term set of figures to look at

I can see the logic of that approach too. Good information. What country do you live in? I wonder whether this is done in the US and the cost difference and whether insurance coverage is a problem here?

(btw, Just for fun, want to try using a period (.) at the end of each sentence? It would make your very interesting post much easier to read through. Just trying to help, no offense intended.)

All the best.

I come from the land down under (Australia ).
I am not one who writes very often so forgive me on my punctuation .
The overall cost for the study and trial was just over 850 dollars but I can claim back about 350 through our Medicare .
The only drawback if you could call it that is I have to pay for my machine out of pocket . But I can claim some back through my private health cover.

Now I do have a question. during my sleep study they didn't observe any time sleeping on my back. But now after having the machine for the last two weeks, I have had a couple of nights were the ahi have jumped and the 90 % figure has been towards the top end. Is there some way of knowing if I am now sleeping on my back

As you know backsleeping makes things worse, when it comes time to get your equiptment, a Apap is preferred, and get one that has software available, welcome to the fold! Jim

Welcome, Big Fella!
You couldn't have come to a better place for information, support, advice, and a few good jokes.
Good on ya!
(is that written out correctly? I wan't sure. Just wanted to say something to make you feel at home.)

Beautiful that you're doing so well already in terms of being comfortable with the machine.
Keep up the good work, mate!

Thanks
Most nights my ahi sits at about .7 to .9 with the 90% figure at 13.5 to 14
On my bad nights Its 3 to 4 and the pressure is 17 to 18.5
The machine is a full data machine but I can't get the card to read on the mac
That's why I ask if there is a reliable way of telling if I am sleeping on my back
