MyEncore - Error - Unable to access the EncorePro database.

Post by edro » Fri May 26, 2006 2:18 pm

I’m thankful for Derek and his MyEncore program, for Rested Gal’s summary of MyEncore topics, and of course for the forum host, admins, and moderators. I have difficulty just asking a question here ‘cause I feel like you all have already done so much. But I can’t get MyEncore to work.

EncorePro 1.6i is installed and can read the SmartCard though sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes the light changes from red to green and it comes back with a “failed” message. But then other times the light is and stays red but the card is read without error. Go figure. The first time I installed the reader the light would stay green so long as a smart card was in it. But now it is flakey.

The database is up -- and with no password.

But no matter how many times I try to uninstall and reinstall to get everything working at once I have never been able to get MyEncore to work. It is a very nice addition and I can see how it gives an easier picture to see the information.

Here’s what I get from the MyEncore Installer_v15b7.msi version:

MyEncore - Error
Unable to access the EncorePro database.
MyEncore will close...
Index #0
Message: SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
LineNumber:0
Source: .New SqlClient Data Provider
Procedure: ConnectionOpen (Connect()).

Any ideas what I might be missing?

Thanks,
Edro

MyEncore - Error - Unable to access the EncorePro database.

Post by motherall » Sat May 27, 2006 6:42 pm

I just got my reader and Encore software and had the same problem. I installed and uninstalled several times but nothing worked until I upgraded .NET on the Microsoft webiste. I also moved the Encore data to an Exel spreadsheet just in case. MyEncore still did not work until I rebooted the computer and the SQL server started. Hope this helps.

What version of net frame did you upgrade to?

.NET Framework

Post by edro » Sun May 28, 2006 6:12 am

I upgraded to .NET v2 but is it possible that both are installed? (I have both Studio 9 Plus and Studio 10 Plus installed simultaneously..)

I've been thinking about other possible mistakes.

I had trouble with the card reader so I did multiple install, uninstall, reinstall cycles. I'm not entirely sure that I rebooted when I should have.. The card reader works now, but maybe..what? I dunno.

I think the database is okay. No password, of course. If I stop the database then Encore Pro says it can't connect. I was checking to see if the database instance that I can see running was the one it was connecting to, that is, I wanted to be sure there were not two instances running.

Should I roll back to .NET 1.1? That's what I had at the start of all this.

Edro,

If you go into the "Add/Remove Programs" in the "Control Panel", you can check to see if they're installed. Derek said that his software ONLY uses the .NET 1.1 and it doesn't matter if the 2.0 is installed....but the 1.1 has to be there. You don't have to "roll back" to 1.1. If it's there, MyEncore will use it.

Have you actually downloaded data from your card and looked at it in the Encore Pro program? From the message you listed, it acts like it doesn't have a database to access or you're not set up in the Encore Pro as a patient.

SQL Database exist - MSAccess even can connect, view

Post by edro » Sun May 28, 2006 1:40 pm

Yes. .NET 1.1 and 2 are both there.

Yes, data exists:
Image

But I did, (anxiously), first attempt to download data from a blank card and I'm wondering if that somehow messed up the database such that EncorePro handles it but MyEncore doesn't. I remember some sort of display (different than the image above)..

I looked at the data using MSAccess, no username or password, but not sure yet what is in there. I had an alarm one night and I'm trying to figure out exactly what time it occurred and think that the data must be in there somewhere. I want to correlate it with my pulse/oximeter data which is timestamped every 12 seconds.

When I've done reinstalls, it seems to keep the data, reloading it from previous attempt. I want to wipe out ALL the data and start over. Maybe it's the backup directories.

Also I notice in My Data Sources some .odc documents that I will explore.

Also I see a .ini file for MyEncore.

Tinkering is fun, but I have some goals that are beyond the tinkering. The alarm, I think, was maybe that one of the pressures isn't high enough. (BiPAP) I "simulated" breathing and determined that it alarms when breathing stops for 15-20 seconds. That's better than what has been, that is, when my breathing stops until I wake up gasping for air. I'm at 8/4 I think because at the sleep lab I was freaking out at the air rushing in. In fact, just a couple of nights and I'm pretty much used to the PAP (positive air pressure, isn't it?) but not used to the mask. Maybe that, too, will become easier for me.

Alarms clarification

Post by edro » Sun May 28, 2006 1:45 pm

Clarification on the alarms: I had an alarm about 5:30am which made me wake up and I realized that I wasn't breathing. So the next day I simulated breating my 14bpm average and then simulated a stop and timed it to see how long before it alarms. I always landed somewhere between 15 and 20 seconds.

Maybe I didn't have to clarify, but after I read my last post it confused me..

That's the "advantage" of having low oxygen and not sleaping well. Everything is new to me since I have no memory of the previous day.

Database List.txt

Post by edro » Sun May 28, 2006 2:03 pm

Another thing, while I can use ODBC in MSAccess to connect to the EncorePro database, I cannot using the utility in:
\My Documents\EncorePro Installation\DBInstaller\UtilitesCalled Databast List.txt

After a long delay, it comes back with:
Number: -2147221504Source: Microsoft SQL-DMO (ODBC SQLState: 08001)Descrtion:..... SQL Server does not exist or access denied....(some other stuff)
Eh?

Edro,

I wouldn't get too panicky about getting the MyEncore installed. Last year, it was May 15th when I installed Encore Pro and July 7th when I installed the MyEncore software. As long as you've at least got the Encore Pro to be able to download your card and see the nightly statistics.....that's what counts. I wouldn't worry about the 21st through the 24th (no data available) either....mine had some of those in my first reports, too....till they rotated out.

Hang in there,

Den

OCD? Me?

Post by edro » Sun May 28, 2006 2:35 pm

Thank you Wulfman. I'm sure that you are right. I can be a little ("a little??", my wife says), OCD about things especially related to my computer. Being disabled and in bed, it is the only window that I can easily open myself.

I have new questions to ask but I'll search for answers first and start a new thread if I can't find answers. One is about the "apnea count and another about how "smartsound quicktracks plugin" tries to install (and fails) every time I start up EncorePro.

I just downloaded MyEncore and got the exact same reading Edro got. So I went into my add/remove area and found I do have MS.NET Framework 1.1 and I have MS .NET Framework 1.1 hotfix (KB886903). Two spots on the list below the last entry is: MS SQL Server Desktop Engine (ENCOREPRO)

The program says I can "click here for support information." Should I do that, I mean I have the 1.1 required, and I do not see .NET 2 anywhere.

I will read the forum info again. Any experts have a suggestion??

I probably missed something, so I will read it all again. Thanks.

.NET 1.1 -- -- .NET 2

Post by edro » Sun May 28, 2006 4:41 pm

Someone said, and it seems so, that having 1.1 and 2 at the same time is okay. So long as you have 1.1, and the hotfix is probably important.

Of course, I'm telling you this while I, too, cannot run MyEncore.

I wonder if you and I could figure out what we did that was wrong, that is, what common thing is there beteeen us? Have you even visited Area 51? (Stupid joke. I'm good at that--that is--stupid jokes.)

We'll figure this out. My next try is to clean out the database. I think that there may be something hokey there.

My database seems fine. All of it comes up one day at a time. I was going
to offer a sacrifice to the data gods, but the dog moves too fast. Besides, if
I make her mad, I will have to eat the leftovers....so we usually co-exist ok.

I have searched every file with Microsoft .NET in it...306 came up. Maybe I
will narrow the search down.

I will check for PM's later.....take care.....

If you want to delete patient files (downloads) you can. I have Version 1.5.77 Encore Pro, and MyEncore, 1.5b7, Microsoft NET Framework 1.1, no fixes for anything. I don't allow Microsnot to update my computer.

All works well. Jim
