Weird in bed?

I like my topic title...

Does anybody notice since being on their machine that they do odd things while sleeping? I tend to cross my feet while laying on my back which sometimes happens even before infall asleep. It actually hurts my bony ankles. I can't stop this habit and it drives me nuts. Anybody else a freak or just me?

Well, I don't feel like I'm being weird in bed, but for as long as I can remember, I've slept most of the night on my back, with my feet crossed. This is before and after being diagnosed with SA. It just feels 'right'. I've been diagnosed with arthritis in the ankle, which makes it painful some nights. I purchased a couple of the ankle braces (neoprene rubber, with a rubber tongue that wraps around and helps support the ankle, and it allows me to sleep with a lot less pain.

Fortunately my AHI is consistently under 1 so I don't have to try and break that habit.

I am guessing that you may be tense about staying in one position so you don't roll around and cause the mask to leak. You might want to look into some relaxation techniques.

On the other hand, some of us enjoy being nuts so you might just want to join us.

When sleeping on your back, you may want to put a pillow under the knees to keep them flexed. This maybe why you cross the ankle, to take stress off joints or ligaments. We did this when doing massage to help people relax their legs.

When I saw the topic, I thought we were talking about our wives - LOL

I always have strange configurations during the night before and after starting CPAP, my wife said my legs are up so my feet are flat on the mattress and my knees are in the air. She said sometimes I am laying diagonally, always tossing and turning.

Starting two months ago, I was using two pillows, this past week, I bought a 7-1/2 inch pillow wedge and since then, I am usually in the same position in the morning as what I went to sleep in. The wedge made one heck of a difference for me, not just in this but my gerd as well as breathing.

I found something that seems to make me sleep like a rock: From the waist up, I'm on a bed wedge so I'm probably ALMOST sitting up (probably a 50-degree angle). THEN, I have a foot elevation pillow. This, my doc says, takes a lot of the pressure off the lower back. It must work. I always wake up in the EXACT same position as when I went to sleep.

This is what I do when lower back discomfort creeps into my world. It's an almost overnight relief.
