Apologies.
Apologies.
I'd like to apologize to the few people I was supposed to send free masks out to last month. We had a fire in our home and lost almost everything to smoke and water damage, including the packages I had ready to go to the post office. It's been a long four or so weeks but we're finally in a new place and out of the hotel. A dear friend gave me their retired laptop and we're putting clothing and furniture back together slowly through the help of friends and charities. I'm still without a machine so sleeping sucks, but at least we have a place to call home again. Again, sorry to those I'd promised masks to. I've never been a huge poster here but you all have helped me more than you can possibly know with the wealth of information found here and I feel so bad about letting a few of you down.

Oh dear, sooooo sorry to hear of your disaster. It sounds like you are slowly getting things back together though. Please let us know what you need in the line of cpap supplies and we will see what we can gather up for you. We all have extras of everything, so if we can be of any help please let us know.
Thoughts and prayers are with you
Cheers

Re: Apologies.
Thank you Nan. I'm still trying to hit up all my 'sources' for free or cheap supplies since I have no insurance, waiting to hear back from a few places on a possible machine. We're just glad that everyone and everything (two cats included) with a heartbeat are fine. We weren't home, the firemen found our kitties crying at the back door when they came through it. One of them is the one in my avatar picture. His long white coat was a mess. Thank goodness he's sooooo sweet and lets me bathe him no problem. He's actually yawning in that picture. I think it looks like he's signing opera.

Re: Apologies.
What do you need besides everything?
I don't have any Optilife stuff unfortunately. I have a few nasal (over the nose) masks or mask/headgear parts.
I do have a Pilairo nasal pillow mask you could have if you would be interested in it. It's not for people with a larger head...the one size fits all doesn't fit all sizes. Minimal use. Hasn't been hurt at all.
I have a couple of the regular cpap hoses you could have.
Hey guys....you know that slush fund we tried to set up for Madalot??? Unfortunately it didn't work out but we tried.
I am game here in this situation. We could find out what mcdover has in the gently used machines that are full data or spring for the PR S1 560 that STL Mark has right now.

Re: Apologies.
All of you guys really are awesome in so many ways. I don't have a big head, just a big nose. I don't do well with anything but nasal pillows, but WITH nasal pillows I'm 120% compliant. That is to say that sometimes when I'm stuffy I even wear my mask and use my machine while I'm watching TV HOURS before bed because it unstops me. I took to cpap like a duck to water and I didn't even know how well I took to it until this happened and I've had to sleep without it. I got so used to it that I get so very little sleep without. I don't know how to explain it. I feel like my apnea's worse now? Or maybe it's that I actually notice my episodes enough that it wakes me up since I've learned what sleep is like without having them on the machine? Anyway, I've emailed a few places and I'm waiting on replies. I don't need anything all that fancy. I know APAP is the best way to go so you have it, but I've used straight CPAP since I started. I'd love to have the Pilairo, but my big schnoz makes nasal masks really hard for me. My favorites are the Optilife and the Swift LT, but once I get a new machine I'd be happy with ANY nasal pillow system.

Re: Apologies.
No need for apologies, that is certain. Glad to hear no one was hurt. Stuff can be replaced. People and pets, not. I wish I had something I could give you, but as newbie I don't have much yet.
I send my prayers.

Re: Apologies.
If no one has an extra mask in your preference you can have my Pilairo...actually it would probably do fairly well with a larger nose. It's pretty comfortable and forgiving in the nasal pillow area. Main problem is the headgear is too tight for some people.
I will wait till we see if someone has one of your preferred masks though.
If you don't have a mask by the name you can come up with a machine...let me know and I will get the Pilairo to you.
I recently changed my primary mask and pretty much gave away most of my other nasal pillow stash because I knew I wouldn't be using them again.

Snoozy, call this number 1-800-345-6443 and select the prompt for patient, explain your situation and ask them how to get in contact with your local Respironics Rep. Respironics does run a charity program people with no means to pay for a machine or have been victims of a disaster. It needs to go through your local rep and referred up to the corporate office. I have obtained machines and supplies for a few patients through this program however it is not a guarantee.

Re: Apologies.
Thank you so much for the info. I've contacted Respironics already and I'm waiting to hear. The bad thing is that I got my first machine from them back in January so I'm not sure what they'll do for me now if anything, but that is one of the places I'm waiting on. Them and the Reggie White Foundation.akcpapguy wrote:Snoozy, call this number 1-800-345-6443 and select the prompt for patient, explain your situation and ask them how to get in contact with your local Respironics Rep. Pugsy - I've had someone offer me a Swift LT. <3 So you can hold on to your Pilairo. This is truly an amazing bunch of people here.

Re: Apologies.
I don't have any large Swift LT. I think I may have one unused from back when I used the LT but it is going to be an XS or Small.
I do have extra PR S1 machine filters as well as the S9 filters. Couple of long hoses and that's about it.
I can contribute $$ to the machine slush fund if anyone is able or willing to take that route if we need to.
There's a couple of pledges already.

How horrible to lose all to a fire. I'm so sorry this happened but glad all with a heart beat are okay and you have found another place. I'm so new to cpap and have nothing extra but I'm glad someone has offered you a mask you already know you like and hope you get the machine and anything else you need real soon and get back to real sleep. What I can do is pray all goes well for you getting set back up with all you need.

Re: Apologies.
Checked. Have I mentioned how awesome you all are? <3 I can't get over it. When I find a machine, I'll have the masks I need. I'm still waiting to hear from Respironics and Reggie White, so all hope isn't lost there. I just emailed them today. The whole month has been such a blur of trying to get stuff that we absolutely had to have (like clothes and food) that I'm just getting around to the other stuff. I know that's bad of me and that my CPAP should have been a priority, but it's just been crazy.
