Basic works well on both 32 and 64 bit computers as well as Win 7 and older OS.
No Mac version though.

Just succeeded in loading data into Encore Basic today; Am I dreaming? what I see are the values visible on the screen of the machine (--when you can see them, I'm saying this because on my machine, I could see them about 2 weeks ago, and now I can't see AHI, max EPAP used, etc., I don't know why! )

I'm very surprised at how much less data it reads and graphs, compared to SleepyHead!
Is it really true that Encore Pro would not show more data than Encore Basic?

Do you have a link to a page on the Respironics site or another provider (but not a torrent site) where you can download Encore Pro 2?
I've read that while Respironics charges for Encore Viewer, they do not charge for Encore Pro, but you have to know where to go to get it.

All Respironics software programs default to showing the last 7 days/nights of detail data. So either you are only seeing the last 7 nights detailed or you aren't choosing "detail" in your report selection. It will only give you summary stuff unless you tell it to give you detailed.

All Respironics software programs allow for choosing past dates (and those detailed reports) but will only show 7 nights detailed reports at a time....so even if you chose the last 30 days of reports..you only get the most recent 7 nights detailed reports (assuming you choose "detailed" in your report selection).

The entire detailed reports are always available...but sometimes takes a bit of fiddling with the dates to get them.

Yes, this is true. The reports are identical. The only difference with Pro and Basic is with some of the DME and doctor office stuff. The reports themselves are identical.

Pro is not supposed to be used by patients...that's why we aren't charged for it....we aren't supposed to even know about it.
DMEs and doctors pay around $300 for that little jewel of a headache.

Check your private message box in a few minutes...if you just HAVE to try Pro and see for yourself then I will get you a link but I don't offer any support for its use at all and trust me..it is a major PITA to use. You are on your own with figuring out how to use it and Basic is a piece of cake compared to Pro.

I am a new bipap user and would like to find the software to view my info from the SD card. Sleepyhead along with the patch still won't view the information.
Thanks a bunch!

Dear Pugsy,

Could I get one of those "private" messages from you regarding 'Basic'?

Thank you

Post by needingu » Fri Feb 01, 2013 12:03 pm

I had Encorepro software. SQL. Myencore.. and Infineer reader. I have lost all that. I have the Infineer card reader only. What do I need??

Check your private message box.
You can use EncoreBasic. It will give you the same reports as your old Pro version and is much smaller and easier to manage.
It should include the DT3500 driver software in the install (others using the card reader haven't had any problem) but if for some reason it won't recognize the card reader you can go to the Mako website and get the driver software.

You'd think being a Software Engineer that views his job as a hobby I'd already be using something to chart my sleep, but I haven't been. Only recently did I become aware of the details available outside of what I can get through the machine's user interface.

So, question: What are the pros and cons of SleepyHead (which I believe is free) vs. Encore Basic (which I believe isn't meant to be free)? Also, I only see Encore Viewer on cpap.com??

As shown below I have a Remstar Series One APAP currently, and will be getting the series 60 soon.

Viewer is not compatible with the 60 series yet. Even if it was it doesn't show wave form which is a piece of data that is kinda nice to have.
It's supposedly being updated but I haven't heard of any time frame for completion or if they are going to include waveform graphs.

Pros and cons...up to the person using the software I suppose.
SleepyHead is faster and lets you do some things with it that are interesting and useful. Encore (any version) doesn't allow for a person to do anything except look.
SleepyHead is much easier to manage.

Encore shows the information gathered visually different from SleepyHead...one way is not necessarily better than the other..just different. It's going to be personal preference which one a person likes to look at.

Viewer is the only version that is out there officially for patient use and Respironics likes to sell it to make a few bucks. The other versions aren't supposed to be for patient use because they offer the ability to change the pressure using the software. Kinda silly since we can easily get to the clinical menu to change something anyway...but I suppose they think we aren't smart enough to do that.

SleepyHead was developed by a PR S1 machine user...no ties to Respironics at all.
I prefer it over Encore myself but in terms of actual data presented...the data is the same no matter how it is shown in a graph.
Some people like one way of looking at things and others like something else.
I do use Encore when I use my PR S1 machine though...there are features in both SleepyHead and Encore that I like but for quick easy looks...SleepyHead and its speed wins hands down.

Sorry, though you already had it... PM sent.

When you get your 60 series machine you will need to do the Patch thing for SleepyHead though.
viewtopic/t83551/SleepyHead-Series-60-Patch-Avail.html
I would suggest just doing it to start with so it will all be done.
A little hint for SleepyHead install with Win 7 and Vista....do the install with the "run as administrator" command line. It avoids a little hassle with the update that is unrelated to the Patch. If SleepyHead has administrator privileges with the install the update goes smoother.
So far there is only one official update.
The Patch file thing is separate.

Awesone! Thanks for that. I have UAC off on my machine but I'll try the run as admin just in case.

Thanks again!
