OT: What does everybody do for a living?

I'm also an RN .. retired early after a back surgery 4 yrs ago. I did LTC, rehab but mostly VNA.

Retired Air Force after 20 years. Mostly shift work. Command Post and Missile Launch Officer (Titan II). Then 16 years being a database guy for non-profit's (Raiser's Edge if anyone knows it). Fatigue made me go part time. Still doing it, trying to get better and/or apply for Social Security in 6 months and 4 days. (but who's counting?)

I'm a retired RN, too- also, VNA. Home care hospice manager. Loved my job but at 66 retired.

I also taught women's fashion design; and, was course administrator for nearly 10 years for a small fashion school in the Cleveland area. I usually loved that job,too.

Before that I taught freshman chemistry at the U of Illinois while DH#1 was in graduate school. I'm a professional dabbler, I guess.

By trade a locksmith. It's a tough job to have and pay bills in a small town. For the past 8 years I have worked for my parents, who own a nursery and greenhouse operation. We grow bedding plants and hanging baskets,and ship to 4 states. I work in all areas of production.

I've been retired due to disability since 2004, prior to that I worked as visual aids coordinator/presentation writer for a large manufacturing company for 8 years. Prior to that job, I was a grant writer for a local not for profit foundation. Most of my career involved writing in some form, either 'fluff it up' for grant writing, or 'pare it down' in manufacturing. Either way, folks say I talk & write too much!

I live off the Federal Government of the U.S.A! Just like the 51% that voted for the current political fiasco. However as a good citizen, I voted against my own interests, and voted with the 49% of losers that have jobs.

I hate to say it but I spent my life working as a heavy mechanic, stupid me, I could have waited to be born 50 later, got a free education, grabbed a handful of government entitlements, and never contributed to the good of this country.

In fact my offspring would by now be the third generation welfare, eating high on the hog. I wasted my life raising 5 children to work and be productive like me. Jim

Chemical engineering degree, worked 15 years in Fortune 50 manufacturing company from factory floor->engineering->IT->upper middle management (started getting profit sharing, use of corporate jets, exec. dining room, stock options,...). Took risk management class in executive development program... learned how to take risks so I resigned (heh) to start my own software/services company in 1994. Now travel the world creating value in commercial / industrial / oil & gas / manufacturing / financial and a wee bit in medical sectors doing data analytics, modeling, prediction and optimization. Will retire when the wife donates what's left of me to medical research, presuming I go first (racing to the grave, we are).

I have worked in the Nursery and Landscaping fields for 31 years. I am currently working in the Park & Recreations Open Space division as a pesticide applicator. The main focus of this position is to work in the City’s almost 24,000 open space acres attempting to control/diminish the impact of invasive weed/plant species on the native environment. The goal of this work is to give the native flora & fauna the best chance for possible recovery and ultimately full restoration, using herbicides and other techniques as part of a full scope IPM program.

I have been employed by the State of Texas for 30 years working for the same human services agency. Currently I worked in the training division of this agency as a Training Specialist IV. I deliver basic and continuing skils curriculum to staff that determine eligibility for social service programs.

I'm currently working at a seasonal call center job that ends at Christmas. I was out of work for six months after I got in trouble at another call center job for falling asleep while talking to customers. I had my sleep study at that time, and I quit because I was too exhausted to continue working. It took about three months of CPAP before I could function normally again.

I practice the art of protecting flat surfaces from the weather and exposing them to the critic, aka : painting. Artist of the 2-dimensions, mostly oil painting (realism), drawing, and some printmaking (BFA). But on the side to please everyone else I am a registered nurse. Before the RN I worked with people with disabilities, and prior to that I built submarines (electrical fab tech), was a lifeguard, and other various and sundry things.
